What is a Variant and how is it different from Skins

In the Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack. We’re getting 2 Variants of existing creatures, the Ouranosaurus and the Kentrosaurus.

We saw they have the have the patterns of the CC Ouranosaurus and Pierce.

So the question is, how are these variants different from an individual skin like Bumpy, all three of which have model changes (Bumpy’s horn is smaller, and the other two are completely different from Frontier original models)

Are the Variants different models but utilize the skin system like normal (as in 84 skin combos, 12 base colors and 7 Pattern options) while individual skins don’t get patterns like the other skins (the Rexes, Raptors, and other RtJP skins, where the skin is set and there is no pattern option)

I think they only specified Ouranosaurus and Kentrosaurus because they're getting their canon designs in JWE2 now, unlike the rest which are just alternate versions of canon skins.

But why not say that Bumpy is a Variant. She’s a canon design. Why treat them as something different than “Just a skin”.

Because Bumpy is a variant if a canon design, one barely different from the normal Ankylosaurus... the Kentro and Ourano skins are canon designs being applied to animals that were added to JWE before they became canon....

Easiest way to explain it:

The variants come with model edits compared to the default JWE2 version as well as an alt skin.

The skins are simply a different color to choose from for an already existing model in the game, no additional edits to said model made.

I was honestly hoping that skin wouldn't have the deformity. Looks really awkward when every cloned Ankylosaurus with the Bumpy skin is asymmetrical in the exact same way for multiple individuals.

Hey folks! Just to clear a few things up ahead of tomorrow's launch: A variant is a major change in dinosaur design, with a new model and size differences, with new animation sets and audio because of those changes.
This brings up more thoughts on what the Dominion designs, which I currently have no doubts will come later on, would be like. Not only new radically different models like the JP trilogy skins, but also new sound and animation sets. Maybe also some size differences as well?

This could be applied to create juvenile/sub adult versions of animals. They don't have to grow up or I'm not sure how they could make it work but its a really promising concept...see Dominion Giga (you know that big boy is getting a variant)

The Giga design in Dominion would most definitely be “variant”. No way it would have the same sounds as the Evolution Giga, but size I’m not sure.

Speaking of whch, I wonder if it would be the same for the Dreadnoughtus and Iguanodon?

The New CC Kentro is a lot BIGGER than the original JWE II !
The New CC Ouranosaurus is a bit smaller than the original JWE II !
That´s kind of cool, and i think it would be great if some of the other Species gets some Size variants too ! ( let´s say 60% size as smal for juvenile or subspecies ;) ) .
But Frontier PLEASE .... resize Bumpy to 60-70% of the normal Ankys.... that would be owsome! .... and the 2 Kentros show that it would be possible ;) !
