What is combat logging?

I've seen the term floated in various posts but no description of what it actually is...other than some form of cheating?

(Not that I want to try it, just trying to get my head around the jargon in these forums)

It's just when someone who is about to lose their ship logs off so they can preserve their ship and hopefully wait it off. Sometimes this is accomplished by scripts and cheats to program a forced crash when, say, your hull is at 5%. It's generally looked down upon as a cowardice.
