General / Off-Topic what is consstency when it is no longer consistency?

Have you ever made a rule in your home... and chose to enforce it only some times?

the battles we have with rebelious children, should highlight to each one of us... that even though we have a rule... the Rule expands into something else...
and eventually the Rule first made...extends as a result of the annoyance of the rebelious child?

Should the consistency of the Rule be Maintained? or at least communicated??
