Well its not an Unidentified Signal Source... its a Convoy Beacon.

Probably a group of freighters with escorts?

Drop in and find out!

I dropped in to find out. It was roughly 4 T9's, 10 T6's, 10 Haulers guarded by a couple of Cobras and Sidewinders.
It just so happens I was searching for T9's for engineer materials. I was able get what I needed quite easily.

Sometimes in my experience they take a very long time to spawn and i think on a couple of occasions they havent at all. Perhaps they have left? Sometimes there is some data scans to be had but quite often they are a waste of time...

This happens when I drop to normal space before the "safe" message appears, such as when I can see the USS indicator but it is not directly ahead of me, or when I'm almost at 1.0Mm but not quite.
