What is Lifetime season pass ?

Hi

I read the premiun content will be free to lifetime season pass holders. What is this season pass? is horizons season pass or is another season pass that ps4 didnt receive? Thanks

It's a pass that guarantees the owner access to all paid content (apart from cosmetics) in the future. It went on sale twice, once during the Kickstarter and once sometime later before the release of Horizons.

Something that can be brought, occasionally. I brought mine before Horizons was launched. It is sold as a special offer. It is what it says it is: A pass to all future seasons etc..

Technically it was called a Lifetime Extension Pass (LEP).

Which grants its owner perpetual access to all paid extensions and content except cosmetics, unfortunately.

Some say it grants you the power to download Elite updates forever...

Others that it allows Cmdrs to land on planets.

All I know is that it’s called ‘Lifetime Seasons Pass’*

* Though technically LEP.

kickstarter, premium beta & just before horizons. (correct?)
Wait till we get the next big expansion(or new paid content) for free, everyone will start posting again why they can't buy the LEP :)

I think it is extremely unlikely that LEP will be available again. It took an obscene amount of salt to force them to reissue it for Horizons, and there will not be that level of pressure this time.

Well not really - I bought mine in the pre-Horizons offer in August 2015 for £120, having already paid £40 for Elite Dangerous. Horizons was pre-order in November 2015, launched in December. Since then no other "Expansion" has been up for sale and if we are lucky we might get a paid-for "expansion" later this year. 3 years - not good value at all. If there is a "ten year plan" then maybe there will be two more paid-for expansions - only then would that £120 break even, assuming £40 per expansion and ignoring sale events.

TL/DR - I would not recommend buying a LEP from Frontier.

(P.S. Yes I know the earlier LEP price was a lot less but I wan't aware of the game them so it doesn't count. ;) )

I bought the Premium Beta pack back in the day just to get into the game.
When it was made clear that Premium Beta will have all the expansions and future "betas" for said expansions free I was very happy that I'll get the value for my money.

I'm still waiting for that "value" to even up with the money I paid... :p

It was part of my original pledge. I got a boxed copy of the game, the map poster and a T-shirt for £85 at the time. My goal was to pledge at the minimum level to get all future DLC included - I don't think it was even originally called a Season Pass back then.

In hindsight pretty good value, but then there was a degree of risk back then as there was no game yet, whereas now there's a solid base game, but the Pass costs more when available. I'd not be surprised if it was made available again leading up to one of the larger future expansions.

The problem is, no one really knows what's to come beyond any published information. There might be some future addition / change that makes the game for one group of players, whereas for others it puts them off.
