I keep seeing a "o7". What does it repersent?

Its the in game version of a salute o being the head 7 the arm.

If a player throws up an o7 in the coms channel it is polite to reply.
If you dont reply you will either be taken as a ganker or a pirate( some pirates also respect the o7 rule)
These days hardly anyone replies to the salute, back in 3302/3 if u got an o7 you knew the cmdr was a friendly chap

Relived to see that no one has mentioned ZO, or 07, or o>. None of that silly nonsense in here please.
And just so you know, Mixer has a dedicated emoji for o7 so if you see a Commander (like me) streaming there you can just type o7 and enjoy the saluting face.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for sharing, I'll test it in due course. Though I prefer Twitch to the other one.
There are lots of symbols cmdrs throw about but will never be as respectfull as the o7

For me, the funny part is when ATC offers a "Oh-7 CMDR" as I leave a station. o7
You missed the most obvious reason for no response... some people are far to busy concentrating on other things to even notice the o7 pop up in the comms panel, which they also may not have the required tab active, and therefore miss the o7 completely. I normally only see them when returning to the menu... at which point I do send a message to the CMDR who sent the o7 to apologise for missing it in the first place... but busy game, lots going on...
Yea half the time I'm either in the station menus, outfitting, or galmap, and there's no way of seeing the greeting, until it's too late and the Cmdr has long gone!
Interface could do with a mini comms overlay for use at all times when not in normal HUD view.

7Thats very true that cmdrs are often to busy to spot the coms msg, maybe there should be an audible warning like when a reputation change or mission update comes down but only for player direct coms, would do my head in if it beeped every time there was npc coms chatter.

Yeah, probably. We fight next door in LTT 15574, and use obambivas for the interstellar factors contact.
CQC is Wednesdays, and the regualr open play event is on Thursdays now.
