What is Target Lock Breaker

PA and APA special effect. Succesfully hitting the target makes them de-lock you.

you can get them now.

It's an experimental mod to the plasma accelerators you can get at an engineer's that does exactly what it says on the tin, make the one hit with it lose lock on their target.

Does it work on NPC's?

Try it and let us know.

Of course, NPC's can re-establish a lock much faster than human due to having a direct neural interface to all their controls at the same time.
They can boost, turn, lock on, change weapons, power manage pips, send a chat message and update their facebook status all at the same time. We actually have a limit on our number of simultaneous inputs.

They just have a REALLY good HOTAS. I'm talking pedals with toe buttons, throttles that can be twisted on all 3 axis, blink detectors and chairs whose rotation counts as an axis.

I don't know what the official answer is, but it's my impression that the answer is "no." And that is from shooting a whole lotta NPC's with it.

Is that all you use? Or do you have any other special effects?

I have an FAS in live with TLB on one C3 Plasma and Dazzle Shell on the other. I also used the same setup with a Chieftain in Beta. In both cases, as long as I kept hitting the ships (FDLs, Anacondas, Clippers, Pythons, etc.), they never fired back. If that was purely due to Dazzle Shell, then I'll drop TLB and make the other have Dispersal field.

I can't hit any of the small ships, though. Perhaps when I get my fatigue issues sorted out I'll be able to use a HOTAS and move up the "Git Gud" ladder.

It does not work on NPCs. Thus, the secret to beating someone using those is to jump into your SLF and let your crew member fly the mothership... Don't tell anyone though, it's a secret! Works a treat vs anyone flying SR too, as despite what Sandro said in a live stream, NPCs ignore SR.
