Newcomer / Intro What is the blue plus sign?

Symbol means that a ship is regenerating but I’ve never been able to pin down in which form...

An AFMU?
Repair limpet?
Healing Beams?

Pretty sure it’s not healing beams because I’ve seen it frequently while bounty hunting and wanted ships aren’t helping each other out...

Thanks! I had it in my orca, sold it and moved back to a clipper and it was still there. Logged out and when I logged back in it was gone.

I had none of those things you mention on my ship, however. I was in solo mode at the time too.

My shields did recharge but were fully charged after that for some time. And I have never seen it before when shield are recharging. But yeah I guess could be.

OK thanks, I understand that it's a regeneration effect, but what caused it?

I have never had it before in 700 hours of playing (that I remember!). I was in solo and with no engineered modules.

So something did it to me, rather than me doing it? I was in a very basic moduled ship. No scbs. Plus solo mode at the time.

Can certain stations boost regeneration then?

Your shields regen faster when your in the station. I'm not sure whether it triggers this prompt, though.
These status icons are kind of hidden away and most of the time one doesn't even notice them. I haven't done any particular research on them.

OK, now it makes sense. The other night I was checking out the Banner Class Bulk Cargo Ship BTG-237 in the Pleiades Sector IR-W D1-55 system. A thargoid appeared and started scanning canisters, so I approached out of curiosity. There were also rescue vessels about flying around with the alien vessel, and these weren't attacked, but a player in an Orca was. He made a getaway and then the ship went after me.

Now, at some point whilst the thargon swarm was chasing after me, something hit me and I saw that blue plus sign. I don't recall seeing the other player around, so someone, or something, helped me regenerate my ship whilst I was making a getaway. I wonder if the medical rescue ships at these places can heal commander ships? At work now so I can't test this out.

When I use healing beams (Regeneration Sequence) on another CMDR I see the blue+ on my target lock on them, so that is definitely one of the cases the icon appears.

But as you say the NPCs get them when there is clearly no healing going on between ships, and I think other things also trigger the icon (SCBs say), or maybe NPCs just don't follow human rules?

I have seen this appear completely randomly. It's definitely not regeneration of shields, it's definitely not regeneration/repair of hull or modules and I have seen it mostly in supercruise so no way related to healing beams.

According to the manual is regeneration of something. Good motivation to read the rest of the manual.... not :D
