What is the first thing you will do in Elite Dangerous ?

So what are the first things you want to do in ED ?

I want to just fly around and look at the scenery a little, find a gas giant, fly through clouds and asteroids, practice docking and landing and if LAVE is there, that's where I'm starting from (single player for me of course).

Humanitarian missions really appeal to me. I don't want to go blasting away at innocents I just want to fly and help out.

I might save a few different games in SP where I try different things though to see what happens of course (another benefit of exlcusive SP...you can experiment).

What will you do ?

The very first thing I'll do is learn how to play the game.
Then I'd probably practice manual docking if I can't get a docking computer straight away.
Then I'd probably look at nearby systems to work out decent trade routes
Then as my money builds up, I'd look at the different ships to work out which one will suit me the best.
Then I'd start to buy ships until I had the ship I wanted then I'd kit it out.
Then I'd try my hand at combat, maybe do some bounty hunting.
Then when I had combat sussed, I'd start all over again on the Free For All multi-player (which I may have dabbled in a bit anyway) and when I was up to the point I was in with the single-player game, anyone with a bounty would learn to fear me :D

That's what I'd do. Mwahahahahahahahahaha

Edit: I just noticed, I'm now Dangerous ... that's right, fear me !!! :D

Probably re-dock because I accidentally hit the launch button... Then crash because I can't find the accelerate button, then get killed by the police because I accidentally discharged my weapon... yeah I'm a bit of a spaz but I get there in the end.

After getting used to my brand spanking new ship, I'll probably have a good explore. Hopefully I'll be in the sol system or be able to get their pretty quick and do a bit of sightseeing.

River Of Tears

Likely cry for a while because that I actually have it after all these years, then cry again once I realise my (quite old by then) PC cant handle it!

Crash a lot until I learn how (not) to handle the ship. So I probably need a dozen throw-away profiles...

Then I shall try to land as undamaged as possible on a planet. Always loved that bit in FE2 and FFE. :D Er, that is, when I managed to do so in one piece that was not on fire or fired upon...

I suspect that I'll be flying around just for the fun of it around the station at first. And I'll start at Lave, of course.

But I'll soon be trading to build up my cash to buy an Asp (which I hope the game will have) or some other sleek ship (please, let there be Wolf Mk II in it!).

First thing for me will be to look through all the options/trading screens etc and check out what's available to buy/upgrade and also see what ships are available to buy and what they look like. Then decide what to buy with my 100cr and where to jump in order to start making some dough. I'll then probably scout around the local planet to check out graphics before heading out.

I'll be starting in mp and really looking forward to using external camera view to scan around and see other players in the same station/base. Awesome!

Once the game is installed and I hit run - probably pass-out from shock from the fact that it's really here! :D

Assuming I make it past that part ... try to figure out the controls ... Like Steve I am a spaz at the start - mouse/kb for me but I can see the attraction of a Joystick / Joypad (if I can find one I like and on the whole I don't like them!)

After that .. who knows .. the universe will be at my fingertips! :D

I will launch from the space station and attack it and see how many Vipers I can bring down, because I'm evil :)

Once I've died I will re-start, cruise the local system and practice docking.

Once I've had a little fun I will take some time out to check the local markets, upgrades, ships, missions, and decide where to go from there.

ED will be my first frontier game. So what would i do first. What I did in the X-series. A Tom Cruise TopGun Flyby with my disco.. Past a Titan battle ship. I probaly would do the same, but don't know the space ships. Would there be something big to do a flyby.
Like a Dreadnaught cruiser or heavy carrier.

For me it will a couple of practice landings and dockings in-system - but I will always try and make a few credits by taking some cargo with me, even if the prices are broadly similar.

Observe the graphics, get used to the flying controls, then start planning my trading empire.

Start off in some safe-ish systems first but it won't be long until the lure of profit takes me to some more dangerous locales.

I'll want to head to systems with different star types and see what the game looks like with the way lighting systems work these days.

Probably what I did last time around: fire my weapon while in port and **** the local Rozzers off. ;)

Will build up credits as fast as possible then outfitting best explorer class of ship I can and then head out into the outer reaches of the galaxy (taking ship flying lesson 101 before hitting the engine on button).

LOL ahh man that still happens to me NOW sometimes in OOLITE. (accidental launch)

Yes that will SO happen to me in ED. Accidently launch then go "oh no" turn around mess the accelerator button, press each key and oppps fire a weapon...I've done ALL of those things.

I'll read the flight manual before I even install anything. I am hoping it will be rich and detailed like the previous ones. They might have a built in tutorial though.

:) That post made me laugh Steve.... I think a lot of people go "I did that too !!!" :)
