Ships What is the Orca for?

It is designed as a luxury passenger transporter, but the mechanics for transporting passengers are not in yet.
But people use it for hauling and combat too.
With a downgraded tradeshield you can fit at least 170 tonnes in there.

So far as I can tell it's equal to or worse than the Imperial Clipper in every capacity, but costs twice as much. Joke.

Perhaps with passenger transport it will have a role again, but for now it's best avoided.

Afaik a disproportionally high percentage of owners are reputed to have business in the red-light districts of space stations. ;)

(Especially look out for Orcas with plushy seats in 'Tiger' or 'Leopard' pattern - and gilded interior)

We have someone among our ranks who's got a plethora of Orcas :

Fuel Rat Orca
Pirate Orca
Smuggler Orca
Trader Orca
Explorer Orca
Powerplay Orca
...
List goes on.

That's the main reason making it the most unwanted ship in this galaxy so far.

Set it to competitive pricing and it will be seen much more in this galaxy because its design is pretty cool,
only you don't get your ROI rate right now.

What if it's the only ship authorized for planetary landings? Never know, given all the other decisions made. Just saying, but yeah could be that whole passenger transportation thing they never did as well.

It's basically an Imperial Clipper with a few differences:

+ Better masslock (12 vs 15)
+ Tighter weapon convergence
+ Higher hull mass (better for ramming)
+ Smaller hitbox
+ Does not need Imperial Rank
+ Cheaper to outfit

- Less raw firepower (1 less large mount, 1 class lower PD)
- Less shielding
- Fewer internal compartments
- More expensive
- Less power available

I prefer it for piracy. The extra masslock and tight weapon convergence is really handy (I'm a fixed weapon purist)

The combination of being nice-looking, fast, and gracious, and having one of the nicest views outside while exploring, make it quite attractive, actually.

Most of all I feel like I'd probably be most comfortable traveling in an Orca "in the real life", compared to most of the other ships available. If I had to spend a lot of time in one of the ED spaceships, that's probably the one I'd want to use. Especially if I was exploring the galaxy and just wanted to see the most of it and enjoy - instead of trying to make the most profit in the shortest time possible.

I think the ship is quite expensive to buy and use, and not terribly good or effective for any specific purpose. But it's still my favourite so far! :) Being able to land on planets would make it even nicer...
