What is the unit used for the fuel gauge?

By unit do you mean measurement?

If so it's tonnes.

I think it's actually measured in TeraHamsters.

Based on advancing the work of Zhong Lin in the 21st Century.

An experiment involving a few million hamsters and a rather enterprising cat is what led to the eventual discovery of the mechanics of a frame shift drive.

The cat in question had escaped from an adjacent lab working on infinite energy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk3xBhqcjqY

Edit: Really, W ang, an incredibly common surname can't be posted on a forum because some adolescent might think 'w ang, hur hur hur'. @#$)*(@#) stupid humans.

More importantly why does it read non-zero when I'm sitting still? Does running the aircon really consume that much fuel?

Thrusters use the same amount of fuel all the time (yeah, I know) but so do sensors, and shields, and your cargo hatch... This is why I power down everything I don't need and use FA-off to power down my thrusters when travelling any distance non-frameshifted. Fuel savings are huge - like, a quarter of a tonne per hour.

Well, it's huge for my 2t-capacity Sidey :)

One thing is for sure....you won't care what the unit on measurement is when you run out or fuel and everything goes dark.
