what is the value of my sidewinder?

Hi, I'm wanting to upgrade my sidey to a hauler, but the trade-in value is 0 credits.. Is this correct? If so, then I may as well store my ship & buy the hauler outright?
John

Yup, your starter Sidey is free and so worth nothing. Any upgrades you put on it though, you can sell those for cash - but it doesn't sound like you have any.

Weird.. To buy a sidey costs 32,000cr

Yup it does, but your initial one and it's equipment is free. It has to be really, or as happened in Alpha you'd be able to sell off kit for credits, destroy the ship, get another free one, sell the kit, destroy the ship, get another free one, sell the kit...............

As far as i remember - i had the preorder eagle - are the parts marked as "loaned" in the upgrade panel, not as your property.

Even then, as you put better equipment into it, the trade-in value for it iz 0, unless they fixed it.
The best value you can get is to sell and replace all modules for cheapest versions at a good high-tech station before upgrading to a better ship.

This isn't just about the Sidewinder, either. Any starter ship is considered "Loaned" along with all the gear provided initially. As a Kickstarter, I get a bunch of free start options. In particular, I started with an upgraded Cobra Mk3 - but it also was all Loaned, so had zero resale value. I had to earn all the money I wanted for my first upgrade without the trade-in.
