What is there to see in Achenar?

It's pretty much like most systems currently. As far as i know the only touristy thing to do is try landing on one of the planets that has high gravity. Maybe some time in the future they'll make it worth visiting.

It's always worth paying a visit to Capitol, just to marvel at the beautiful work they did after we managed to get the Devs to change the planet to match it's lore

Also a trip planetside to Achenar 3 to amaze yourself at it's 6g atmosphere and recall one of the greatest community pranks performed by East India Co.

Not much to do unless you like trading, I imagine it will get a lot prettier come 2.2.

To be fair though, last time I was in Achenar the only thing I did was interdict some ISS and wreck a little havoc, you could do the same if you are inclined to do so.

Achernar 3 is a 6.7g landable planet. Going up a slight hill to try to get back to your ship is quite the adventure.

That's a breeze. :D
The true adventure is to take a T9, give it a D-rated thrusters, fill it to the brim with cargo and go break a speed record. (mine is 920m/s) :p

Nothing.

That was one of my main disappointments early on in the game. C'mon, the Seat of the Emperor - it has to be ivory and gold and glitz...

This much is true.

Achenar, Sol, Alioth, all the powerplay faction headquarters, there's nothing different in any of them.

The 'Achenar Challenge'

The Imperial capital system of Achenar has recently attracted the attention of thrill-seeking Commanders of the Pilots Federation. Achenar's third planet has become a proving ground where bragging rights are earned in what is known as the 'Achenar Challenge'.

Proctor Ulrich von Braun, whose only concern until recently was the safety of Imperial Naval Academy students during high-g training, posted the following advisory:

"The force of gravity on the surface of Achenar 3 is approximately 6.7 times that of Earth. Any who wish to hazard this so-called 'Achenar Challenge' are advised that they do so at their own risk. Pilots accustomed to landing on planets in the 3-4 g range are much more likely to alight here safely. Underestimate Achenar 3 and you may never leave."

Dawes Orbital is pretty ordinary ... is there anything I should do as a tourist in Achenar?

I have been in that neighborhood quite a lot. Nothing special to see there.

I hope that FD will eventually add special Imperial station designs to the game.
And capital systems like Earth and Achernar should get some unique structures too.
But I guess that is something for the future.
