what is this object?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but anyone know what this object is (see pic)?

From panning around the galaxy map the only thing I see that this might be is one of the very distant galaxies off in the distance, but out the window it looks more like an oblong globular cluster.

Anyone have a better idea what this object circled in red might be?

I'm out in North American nebula, but I think I've seen this thing out in other directions away form the bubble too if I recall correctly.

I forgot which NGC nebula it is, but there is one with a long string of O-type stars in it like that. I'll dig for images of it close up. It's been explained as an issue with the distance measuring in the background data for the galactic model.

NGC 7822. One of the more beautiful nebula with a fantastic set of O/A/B types with accompanying Black Holes. Bunches of them! It is also well above the galactic plane, so you will need at least around 23ly jump. Here is an Imgur Album of the approach - that little string of lights starts like a bright slash in the sky, then resolves into elvish writing, finally into discreet stars. Further towards the Rim than the North america, but in the same direction - you should stop by if you have the jump range.

And the answer to almost every single 'what is this thing in the sky box' question I've ever seen asked. Including the time I was the one doing the asking :D

Hah. It's funny how something so exotic and far away can become so mundane... "Oh yeah, NGC 7822? I go there to get my coffee.."
