Well it has allowed me to customize my two favorite ships more to my liking within 2 weeks and from now on I'll be saving a lot more time traveling and doing what I like doing since I was able to customize my ships.

I am having a better time then ever in the game. I am more strategic about my engagements, and when I chose to do so. I actually enjoyed undermining today more then I ever have before! Actually had to turn tail & run sometimes... That's flippin crazy. I think my I win button must have been stuck or something before 2.1

I think the game has changed for me in that; I no longer grind one particular thing for as long. Combat has become more intermixed with the missions & less farming the RES. I do more things I wouldn't have before, and some combat is just not for a lone wolf pilot anymore.

Some mission bugs I do hope get worked out, but all in all I am very much enjoying the game, and 2.1 was an awsome addition that gave it a new breath of life for me

Engineers themselves won't play as big a role in my gameplay as I might have expected. They are still a nice addition to spice up the game activities.
Everything else? Bloody awesome! ;)

Liking the mission revamps a lot, combat seems to be a bit more fun but the engineers side of things is too random and grindy for me to take any real interest in as yet.

Forget "Blazing your Trail" prepare to "Chew your Tail" you could just grab "Farming Simulator" it might be more fun. Been finding myself outside stations recently, swooping on some left over wake farts...great...Engineers has sooo much potential,

CMDR Rigmor, Dangerous, Elite, Uber, ,,,er...do you know where I can find a bit of Arsenic mate? I only need a little bit,

Overall, 2.1 brought some very good quality of life improvements, however the Engineers feature themselves in my opinion has not been executed well and leaves me feeling a little disheartened. The concept itself is great, however I do not agree that any level of RNG, even though it is controlled, should be a player's reward for significant work required in collecting blueprint materials. So my answer would be that the Engineers feature has some serious design flaws and I'm far from satisfied with it.

It is an awesome addition to dip into once in a while.
People who grind engineers have an autistic approach.

You are expressing an opinion about one way of playing ED, which you seem to be inferring is the correct way of playing ED because if you don't then you are 'autistic'. This attitude will win you no friends.

The Engineers provide goals where if you work hard then you can be presented with a controlled randomised outcome. Some people like working towards goals, so they may work intentionally and specifically towards that goal. Having the semi-randomised outcome turns this experience into a goal that you need to apply yourself with even more effort to because you may need to 'spin the wheel' more than a few times to achieve an effective outcome. A fair few of us are objecting to this design because we don't want to have our goals dragged down by a system that actively requires and encourages 'grinding' if you want to achieve an effective outcome within a reasonable timeframe.

I was having a great time until they nerfed the AI into potato land. Still the missions are a great addition, even if some have some bugs in them, overall great improvement. AI was great, is stupid and no challenge now, thanks whine patrol. Engineers, meh, don't really need them, slowly getting mats doing missions though, so I will get some upgrades eventually.

All the QoL improvements, excellent!
* Further USS drops.
* Bookmarks.
* Better mission interface.
* Better loadout interface.
List goes on and on. Thumbs up mostly, was thumbs up all the way around until the AI nerf.

Dumbest post of the day goes to Henri.

Why? He's got the point.
Engineers aren't something you grind towards. You simply play the game with all the new features and once in a while you visit the Engineer to see what's in store.
I like it.

I like it.

People keep appearing to miss the point entirely. The point is:

1. The issue is not so much about the effort that is required to collect the materials BUT that it is coupled to a semi-randomised output mechanisms for blueprints.
2. This means that the work required to collect the materials is not necessarily for a one-time 'spin of the wheel' but you will most likely need to collect for multiple attempts in order to get an outcome that is worth the effort. However, it could be argued that a semi-random output is never worth it because you lose some control of the outcome, meaning you cannot adapt it to your playing style.
3. The objection is that the time-frame required for this effort is not considered reasonable by some, including myself. The better method would be to decouple the RNG from the blueprint result and let players customise their modifications according to their game-play style or ship role they are actively engaged in. No, this will not lead to min-maxing, as there is no 'perfect' combination of ship choice, loadout choice and mod customisations as there are many different options and counter options. Power and choice to the gamer is the best reward for hard work!

The issues above may lead those who are actively and intentionally pursuing goals to feel that their time is not well spent. This may lead to the use of the word 'grind' as way of describing their negative feelings towards their perceived wasted time.

Isnt that the stuff they used to have in the paint of old houses?
And I think they used to use it as rat poison. Perhaps Elite needs to partner up with Home Depot or another hardware store?

The Engineers themselves? A bit of a let-down for the most part. Not terrible, but not as good as I might've hoped.

The 2.1 patch as a whole? Probably the best single patch since launch. Huge improvement on so many aspects of the game.
