For me, there's some really good things in 2.1. Stuff like traffic controll and the new mission system are welcome addidtions.
The main course 'Enigneers' though is something that really disgusts me.
The RNG material collection, the aimless wandering searching for materials.
The RNG rolls for crafting, ending up with stuff that's even worse than the base module.
I really dont understand how FD keeps getting it completely wrong with allmost every patch.
Powerplay added nothing for me.
Wings added nothing for me.
CQC added nothing for me.
Horizons is a good concept, but the buggy is not fun to drive, material collection is meh and the fact that again there's no persistence and RNG rules supreme really turns me off.
The frontier devs seem like a nice bunch of people that I've grown very fond of in the past three years.
I can't help feeling though that a lot of aspects of Elite Dangerous would have been a lot more to my liking with a different team of people.
The choice to make it a multiplayer game and the over-reliance on proc gen and rng lead to a static, boring universe.
I'd love to see more adventure, unique locations, rewarding progression, etc.
Right now it's all so static and sterile.
Without multiplayer we could have had persistence and seamless space travel. Oh well, that will be for another game then. Not that I don't like ED, it is just that I feel it was hamstrung by Multiplayer. Anyways, what's done is done and ED is the closest to a space sim we got in recent years so I'm taking it.
