What is your favourite and least favourite animal of each pack?

Arctic
👍 - Polar Bear: Bears are generally my favorite animals, so king of bears was base game omission that bothered me the most. I actually love designing their huge habitats.

👎 - Reindeer: This is one of many packs with (for me) perfect roster so it's hard to pick for this category. Reindeer got pushed out of my zoos a little by other deer that came after it

South America
👍 - Giant Anteater: Absolutely love this animal both in game and irl. Really unique presence. I'm glad we got it this early, cause God knows if it would get another chance to show up later.

👎 - Llama: Base game was starving for South America representation, so wasting one of four spaces on domestic animal wasn't really the move for me.

Australia
👍 - Cassowary: After all this time still one of the best models in game. Chef's kiss 👌 It flares up any section it's included in.

👎 - Dingo: It was actually on my nightmare roster during speculations before DLC dropped. Similar with Llama, when we have so little Aussie fauna, and it has so much to offer, I can't be over the moon with a dog.

Aquatic
👍 - Grey Seal: I always preferred True Seals to Sea Lions and Fur Seals. Even that aside, the model and movement is really well done. Also the cute little white pup is a massive +.

👎 - Dwarf Caiman: Again one of the packs with no true loser, but this Caiman suffered similar fate to Reindeer in my zoos, when Spectacled Caiman filled its niche in better ways. Dwarf Caiman still features in my zoos tho.

Southeast Asia
👍 - Malayan Tapir: It was Babirusa before the remaster, but even then Tapir found itself in my zoos a bunch. With remaster it's perfection. Most of the love for this animal I've been carrying since childhood.

👎 - Dhole: I was never too big of a fan of Dhole. It's too bland for my taste, and especially for tropical Asian sections where there's such a rich selection of weird and colorful animals. Even in this very pack

Africa
👍 - White Rhinoceros: It was hard to pick both my most and least favorite animals from this pack because they're all bangers. Model is fantastic and I always preferred large beasts.

👎 - Fennec: Bad place at the bad time I'm afraid. I don't have any real issues with this little gut, I guess I just use it the least of all the others. Even less so with arrival of Sand Cat which is, I noticed, contrary to many people in community.

North America
👍 - Moose: I mean this can be #1 in the whole game. My real life biases definitely fuel that, but the model is sooo good, especially antlers. I missed it quite a bit after base game inclusions in both ZTs.

👎 - Alligator: Again a perfect pack, and Alligator is one of the best game models, but since I build so much cold outdoor zoos, I use all the other animals from the pack way more.

Europe
👍 - Eurasian Lynx: This is gonna be a repeating theme, but if I love the animal irl, it has high chances to be favorite in game just by inclusion. But also, one of the best cat models out there. Also they nailed the sounds.

👎 - Alpine Ibex: It hurts me, but someone must end up here. Perhaps the lack of animals to combine it with (Ptarmigans, Marmots, Chamois, Hares...) for sections drags it a bit.

Wetlands
👍 - Red Crowned Crane: I mean model aside, that is fantastic, I finally got a bird for my cold zoos. Easily the animal from this pack I use the most.

👎 - Platypus: This is just due to lack of use. I don't think I ever built for them. I do plan to have them in my upcoming Natural History park. It's really well made tho. Bummer.

Conservation
👍 - Przewalski's Horse: It was 50/50 between it and Leopard. They're both so useful and so beautiful.

👎 - Siamang: This would've been a much harder choice before Tropical, but Lar Gibbon completely muscled out Siamang in every sense. Nothing against Simanag itself, except perhaps walking animations.

Twilight
👍 - Striped Skunk: Such a cool little guy, that was always in my "not happening" parts of wish lists. So I was very glad to see it in this pack. But it's thin line between best and worst in this pack. This is closest to perfect pack, for me, we ever got.

👎 - Red Fox: Again someone must be here, and it's just that every other animal has something exotic (I'm from Europe) going for it. But Red Fox is still super versatile pick.

Grassland
👍 - Maned Wolf: It was a roller-coaster with this one. Before the pack it was one of my most requested SA animals. When I saw the trailer I thought that it didn't look as well as it could. But then in game I fell in love with it all over again. They especially did great job on animations.

👎 - Caracal: This was always the "Dhole of cats" for me both irl and in games. It's just a bit bland. I feel like both Serval and Sand Cat cover parts of that niche better.

Tropical:
👍 - Lar Gibbon: This was a zero to hero story with me. I didn't catch notification on time and spotted thumbnail (with Gibbon on it) for DLC while watching something on YT. And I was kinda bummed out (It's not even an Animal Pack and we're getting another Gibbon?! SA monkeys where??). And even with parts of that still standing the animations and color on Gibbon made it sour so high on my lists and zoos. One of the best made animals in game.

👎 - Asian Water Monitor: And then we have this animal that I saw in trailer that I'm still not over it. Sure it's better Nile Monitor, but come on, for the Tropical theme you pick Monitor reskin.

Arid:
👍 - Porcupine: A lot of love and time went into this animal and it really shows. Also along the well made model and animations, it's really useful for many kinds of zoos.

👎 - Dama Gazelle: I don't share many opinions on this pack with the community, but if we agree on one thing it's that we really didn't need this one. But it's not the worst in this category. It's a must have for multispecies desert habitats.

Oceania:
👍 - Blue Penguin: Sadly I don't use much of the animals from this pack, due to my leanings on realism and general nature of parks I build, but this one definitely offers the most versatility of them all.

👎 - Kiwi: Sadly it's in the similar camp with Platypus. It's covers such a unique niche that delayed me from building for it yet.

Eurasia:
👍 - Wolverine: We have a saying in Serbian: "He bored God and the people", and I believe that's what I did with Wolverine on this forum. But man did the wait pay off. And I love how much enrichment they gave it, it's soo fun to build for them.

👎 - Saiga: Really, really, really cool animal in real life, but again my immersion jusy won't let it in my zoos. It sucks cause it's obvious they really made it well. I do plan to recreate big Saiga reservation that I use to make in ZT2, just so I can finally build for this amazing creature.

Barnyard:
👍 - Sheep: Not too excited about much of animals from this pack, I was waiting for Highland Cow, but after it turned out "not as expected" Sheep stole the first place like the Dark Horse with it's beautiful model.

👎 - Pig: Even among most "neither here nor there" picks, the pig is even worse for breed choice. I'm really not he biggest fan of it

arctic:
  • favourite: polar bear it just provides something no other animal can in a build it also really iconic for so many marine parks
  • least favourite: arctic wolf we truly didnt need a wolf subspecies and one that is literally just a forced colour morph of the timber wolf with nothing unique about it gameplay wise
south america:
  • favourite: only south american monkey need I say more
  • least favourite: was so salty it wasnt a wild camelid instead
australia:
  • favourite: red kangaroo it functions and looks so good especially for an early pack
  • least favourite: probably the cassowary but honestly I dont hate any of them just think the cassowary is a bit off theme and at the time should of been the emu
aquatic:
  • favourite: grey seal seals are cool thats it
  • least favourite: giant otter they are just ugly and evil but honestly it was hard to pick a least favourite since I really think they choose poorly for every animal in the pack
south east asia:
  • favourite: binturong one of my favourite animals in real life love seeing that at real zoos love them ingame
  • least favourite: babirusa I just dont see the appeal of swine
africa:
  • favourite: literarily impossible to pick from my 2 favourite irl animals the fennec fox and meerkat but meerkat definitely added more to the game.
  • least favourite: the african penguin not that I dont like it the rest of the pack was just too good
north america:
  • favourite: Californian sea lion a good choice of a pinniped that I have fond irl memories of and has alot of practical use.
  • least favourite: arctic fox just doesnt seem that useable to me red fox is way better.
europe:
  • favourite: alpine ibex building for climbing ungulates just hits different
  • least favourite: eurasian lynx still salty it wasnt the iberian
wetlands:
  • favourite: platypus they are just cool goofy lil guys
  • least favourite: nile lechwe didnt really add much and is sorta just there.
conservation:
  • favourite: przewalskis horse beautifully represents the theme and message of the pack
  • least favourite: siamang loud and obnoxious plus the lar gibbon is a much betetr gibbon
twilight:
  • favourite: common wombat they are adorable
  • least favourite: striped skunk just find them boring everything else gets some sort of reaction from me and the skunk is just there
grasslands:
  • favourite: the butterflies they were a complete game changer
  • least favourite: blue wildebeest I legitimately love all the grasslands animals including the wildebeest its just the only one I can live without
tropical:
  • favourite: sloth not a high bar since I hate this whole pack concept and all the only good thing was the sloth and maybe the gibbon
  • least favourite: red river hog again just dont understand the appeal of pigs.
arid:
  • favourite: black rhino I just find them neat.
  • least favourite: dama gazelle we truly didnt need another african gazelle
oceania:
  • favourite: little penguin best penguin
  • least favourite: quokka vibes were off still a good animal though
eurasia:
  • favourite: mute swam it was a swam enough said
  • least favourite: sloth bear ruined the packs theme for me
barnyard:
  • favourite: chicken because its a chicken
  • least favourite: donkey because we really really didnt need another donkey it could of been literally anything else over the poorly made clone

Arctic
Favorite: Dall sheep. Sort of an unexpected favorite, and counterintuitive to my general preference for common zoo species/species I've seen, but they're just so fun.
Least: Arctic wolf. Just a completely unnecessary subspecies of a species we already have. It's not distinctive, interesting, common, or popular enough to justify having two.

South America
Favorite: Colombian white-faced capuchin. It is utterly absurd that this is still our only new world monkey, over 4 years later. Like, outright laughable.
Least: Llama. It's fine, really, but it could've been so many other things instead.

Australia
Favorite: Cassowary. Just a great model and a fun animal. I was initially disappointed that it wasn't the emu, but now it's able to shine for what it is.
Least: Koala. I like koalas a lot, I just don't think this game does a remotely good representation of them.

Aquatic
Favorite: King penguin? Honestly, none of these picks are super exciting in hindsight. We have a better otter, the caiman was always good but not great, and I especially wish we'd have gotten the harbor seal instead. No real complaints about the penguin, at least.
Least: Gray seal. I don't hate it, but to repeat: I really wish this had been the harbor seal instead.

Southeast Asia
Favorite: Binturong. Just a favorite animal of mine in general, and after the redesign it's basically just perfect in-game too.
Least: Proboscis monkey. It's the only real option here. It's criminal that the last proper monkey we've gotten is one whose zoo distribution is so limited that it's unrealistic for 99% of zoos.

Africa
Favorite: Meerkat. Another genuinely wonderful inclusion, quintessential zoo animal.
Least: Southern white rhino. Incredibly tough decision, because every animal in this pack is more or less perfect. I went rhino simply because the babies probably should've been modeled after a somewhat older individual.

North America
Favorite: Black-tailed prairie dog. This is another pack with a ton of amazing animals, but I think I use and enjoy these guys slightly more than any of the others.
Least: Moose. Really the only weak link in the pack imo. I know it's a popular animal so I can't begrudge it too much, but man I would've preferred the white-tailed deer.

Europe
Favorite: Fallow deer. Super versatile, and similar to the capuchin they wind up filling in for the "mundane North American deer" niche better than either of our two actual NA deer.
Least: European badger. It's fine, just less so than the others. There aren't any kept in the US where I typically build, so it doesn't see much use.

Wetlands
Favorite: Capybara. The otter is super close tbh, and both of them are just obviously essential and super fun inclusions.
Least: Wild water buffalo. Whyyyyy did they not use the domestic species? That would've probably would've been enough to bump it over the caiman and platypus.

Conservation
Favorite: Amur leopard. Just a beautiful animal. I've realized recently that it's my favorite of the big cats irl.
Least: Scimitar-horned oryx. Absolutely nothing against this excellent inclusion, it's just maybe slightly less excellent than the other three.

Twilight
Favorite: Red fox. Just a wonderful animal, insanely charismatic, and boy did they ever do it justice with all the color morphs.
Least: Common wombat. Would've preferred the much more common southern hairy nosed species, and in general it just feels a bit out of place in this pack. That's not to say that it is out of place, but it sure does stick out like a sore thumb when lined up with the raccoon, fox, and skunk.

Grasslands
Favorite: Red-necked wallaby. The most essential Australian species, at last! They're really just great little guys.
Least: Striped hyena. This is my favorite pack overall, so I don't really dislike any of the animals, but if I had to pick this one's a no-brainer. I still would've preferred a different armadillo species too, but at least that model is impeccable.

Tropical
Favorite: Red river hog. Just lovely little guys. I'd been rooting for them for so long.
Least: Asian water monitor. I'm not including habitat species, or else this would've been the sloth. Still, despite an amazing model, I really don't think we needed a third monitor and a 200th Southeast Asian species when we could've gotten a nice tropical tortoise or a South American species instead.

Arid
Favorite: Crested porcupine. I mean, obviously. Fantastic inclusion and fantastic model.
Least: Somali wild ass. Perhaps a contentious pick, but this one really doesn't do much for me. This is another pack where I think every single animal is a genuinely great inclusion, though, so this isn't exactly a condemnation.

Oceania
Favorite: North Island brown kiwi. Bird, I guess. Great model. This pack is just totally not for me in general, though.
Least: Quokka. I adore quokkas like any reasonable person, but man what an underwhelming pick here. Especially considering that the short-beaked echidna and Matschie's tree kangaroo continue to exist in my top 10 and top 2 respectively.

Eurasia
Favorite: Mute swan. In any other pack, the sloth bear or takin might have swept, but this one's just not fair. The swan brings too much to the table to not get the nod.
Least: Saiga. Meme animal. No questions.

Barnyard
Favorite: Sheep. Just a stunning model. Possibly the best in the game. It's funny, because a sheep was the member of this pack's roster I was least eager for prior to the model reveal.
Least: Goat and pig. Just an utterly bizarre breed choice for both of them. I can't even decide on one to throw under the bus over the other because they're both just so bad.
Zookeepers
Favorite: African spurred tortoise. Such a versatile animal. I'm so excited to get to use them. We were woefully lacking in tortoises.
Least: Kirk's dik-dik. Maybe I'm being preemptive here, but in a vacuum, the dik-dik is the least appealing animal in a very strong pack roster. I guess this could wind up being the markhor or sifaka once we see more of them all, though.

For Zookeeper Animal Pack I would say
Least Favorite: Kirk's Dik-Dik, I do like them but there are stronger choices, like the Muntjac.
Favorite

Favorite: Hamadryas Baboon, a well made and very useful monkey

👍 - Spectacled Bear: Long awaited one, model is fantastic and markings are fantastic. Generally I like it for zoos, because it fulfills the common niche of a bear, yet it's exotic enough to "sell tickets". All the grievances about SA animals aside, I'm glad this is the one that made it to PZ finally

👎 - Pallas Cat: - I've never been the biggest fan of them, be it irl or as inclusion in PZ. Some animals that are meh to me can save their usefulness in many themes, but the Pallas Cat is pretty niche, so bad luck.

Zookeepers pack:

On a basis of usefulness:
  • Favourite - African Spurred Tortoise, very common tortoise species that I can add to a variety of zoos and will easily enhance new and existing reptile houses and animal areas.
  • Least Favourite - Hamadryas Baboon, Sure I can use it to make 2 or 3 fantastic arid baboon habitats for the san diego zoo but thats the extent of my planned use of the baboon. Maybe as a sub for an african monkey but not really the most useful choice. Even the likes of the pallas cat which fits the same kind of limited niche can be used in a variety of general small asian cat habitats that the clouded leopard doesn't work or even in a small mammal or nocturnal house.

Zookeeper Animal Pack:

  • Least Favorite: Kirk's Dik-Dik

Ok revised version with a couple changes. Also im not taking exhibit animals into consideration

Arctic
Favorite: Reindeer, nice to have animal, but honestly none of the Arctic animals stands out to me
Least: Arctic wolf, can hardly call it a reskin since its basicly a just a color change. And with Arctic having no exhibit animal and being the first DLC this feels especially lazy

SA
Favorite: Capuchin: nice to finally have a new world monkey in game
Least: Was the jaguar before but now with some more domestics and especially the alpaca, which can basicly do everything the llama can while looking a hundred times better, i dont really see myself using the llama anymore

Australia
Favorite: Red kangaroo, super nice animal that was definetly missing in the game
Least: Dingo, from all the animals australia has to offer this is by far the lamest to me. I get that they needed a clone tho, and now that we have most of the iconic australian animals im not really bother by it anymore.

Aquatic
Favorite: Tie between penguin and seal. Just super well made and essential animals
Least: Dwarf caiman, kinda pains me to put it here but it just cant compete withe the others.

SEA
Favorite: Proboscis monkey, while its super niche and absent in captivity outside its range, i cant deny that its a fun and well done inclusion.
Least: Was the tapir before, but now with it being redone im actually not quite sure what to put here, either the clouded leopard or dhole, not because any of them are bad additions but just because i like the rest more.

Africa
Favorite: African penguin, among my favorite animals ingame
Least: White rhino, nothing wrong with it, i just like the others more .

NA
Favorite: Beaver, unique and fun inclusion
Least: Cougar, i just dont have much use for it

EU
Favorite: Fallow deer, nice to finally have a normal deer
Least: Lynx, nothing wrong with it, i just like the rest more

Wetlands
Favorite: Capybara, its the capybara
Least: Nile lechwe, with so many cool animals in the pack this one fallls short

Conservation
Favorite: Siamang, wasnt amazing at launch, but with the update its super cool.
Least: Leopard, nothing really wrong with it i just enjoy the others more

Twilight
Favorite: Raccoon, nice to get what is to me the Essential NA zoo animal
Least: Red fox, not a really exciting animal but a usefull inclusion anyways

Grasslands
Favorite: Armadillo, easily among the best made animals
Least: Wildebeest, just the weakest pick imo

Tropical
Favorite: Gibbon, an animal i did a complete 180 on, was super annoyed with it at first because the anual primate spot went to another gibbon but it slowly became one of my favorite animals in game
Least: Gibbon and monitor where here before but both grew on me so much that i have to put the hog here now, i still really like it tho

Arid:
Favorite: Porcupine, duh
Least: Dama gazelle, doesnt do anything for me, sad to have this over other possible inclusions /Edit: actually its the rhino, i always for get it exists)

Oceania:
Favorite: Devil, A long awaited addition that came out amazing
Least: Penguin, its cute and all but i dont have much use for it

Eurasia:
Favorite: Swan, one of the most usefull animals they ever added imo.
Least: Sloth bear, looks absolutely stunning, just never had the need for a 4th indian bear, especially not when it doesnt have a monkey or antelope

Barnyard:
Favorite: Chicken, because its a bird and the only animal in the pack i dont have atleast a slight issue with, also will hopefully spawn alot of fowl mods
Least: Tie between the donkey, sheep and pig, for different reasons tho. The pig partially because i much prefered other breeds, and the others because while a petting zoo pack is bound to have, and should have alot of ungulates, 6 was just one to much. Especially since a rabbit and/or duck are so painfully missing here.
I mean on the one hand like that we have a domestic pig, sheep and donkey but on the other hand there were a couple way better picks and especially the sheep and donkey i could have done without. Idk its hard for me to put in words.
The goat, alpaca and cow i have no strong feelings either way. The goat, while a bizarre breed choice still looks genericly goat like enough to not be that big of an issue, the alpaca is nice for petting zoos and is still exotic (from my viewpoint) enough to be use aside from them. And the cow is just a cool animal, although form my personall intended usecases i would have much prefered a larger variant.
Zookeeper:
Favorite:
Baboon by two miles, One of, if not the most wanted animal for me for a while, and i pretty much gave up hope not only for the baboon specificly but monkeys n general seeing how they get booted at every occasion, even if they are the most logical inclusion.
Least: Bear, it just doesnt do anything for me really. Its another bear that will do the exact same bear stuff as all the others with the only real difference thats its from south america. And SA has so many unique species to offer that ending on one that you can find in very similar form almost anywhere that it just feels like a huge waste. Kinda like the dingo in australia, neat i guess? But there was so much more interesting stuff that what you can find on literally every continent (spec bear fans dont kill me please)

Sometimes I am just too excited for new animals that I am not really thinking critical of the choices, so this is a nice excercise. I am limiting myself to habitat animals, since mostly the exhibit animals cannot really compete with them.

Arctic:
Favorite: Polar Bear - Even with the atrocious space requirments, this is just a classic animal, it also gets points for being given diving behaviour later.
Least Favorite: Arctic Wolf - As much as I like them, I do not like the way it was implemented, being technically already in game as the Timber wolf.

South America:
Favorite: Giant Anteater - I just love everything about the anteater, it is very unique animal and being relatively big, I would not class it as a filler animal. But I admit it could use some retouch, mainly on the long tail hair.
Least Favorite: Llama - Okay, I was debating between the Llama and Jaguar (only because I feel like the Jaguar model is not the best, it is my favourite big cat...), but now that we got Alpacas, I think Guanaco or Vikuňa would be better choice and we could have one wild and one domesticated South American camelids.

Australia:
Favorite: Red Kangaroo - Iconic species, even if I use wallabies more, a classical big Kangaroo is a must have and I remember being so excited when I first seen them hopping around.
Least Favorite: Koala - It was my favourite when the pack launched, but as time passed I think the model has not aged well. I love the animal itself, but it is one of few animals where I just have to use a remaster mod to enjoy. Looking at it from the vanilla point of view, I had to choose the Koala.

Aquatic:
Favorite: King Penguin - Fist ever penguin, oh how happy I was. I do not use it as much now,, but the model, the sounds and animations...It all works great together.
Least Favorite: Dwarf Caiman - I have nothing against it really, having a small crocodillian is great, but it just cannot rival the rest of them.

Southeast Asia:
Favorite: Sun Bear - I think alot of love was put into the Sun Bear animations wise and Frontier made it really stand out from the other bears. That plus its dog size and a new niche of a tropical bear further distinguished it.
Least Favorite: Proboscis Monkey - A very unique and interesting monkey, sadly its captive presence limited to its native range makes it hard to use for me. I would not mind it that much if we had alot of different monkeys, sadly it being our only option for the region does not help.

Africa:
Favorite: Fennec Fox - I...just love foxes, okay? Other than that, it is a great animal for all kinds of indoor houses - nocturnal, desert, small mammal house. Even if people were kind of tired of canids, this was a good pick in my opinion and the fox has its uses.
Least Favorite: White Rhinocers - This was incredibly hard to pick,as I think the Africa pack roster is just amazing and all the animals are very useful. Objectively, an African Rhinoceros was a must, but subjectively I still have not used it in my zoos, so that is what I picked.

North America:
Favorite: California Sea Lion - sea lions are among my favourite animals, and after being dissaponited that they were not includedin the Aquatic pack, it was a releaf to see them here. Having both a true seal and a sea lion is just great, they are both iconic animals in the end.
Least Favorite: Cougar - I admit, I had it on my wishlist, but once they arrived I suddenly found out that I really had not much use for them so far in my builds. I was a victim of good old nostalgia from ZT2 that made me want them in game.

Europe:
Favorite: European Badger - not the most common animal in big zoos, even in Europe, but it is one of the more interesting European animals visually and we did not have a badger species yet in game.
Least Favorite: Alpine Ibex - not a bad pick at all, I just prefer other caprids more.

Wetlands:
Favorite: Capybara - I mean, it is a capybara, a fan favourite and a meme animal that was picked right for a change. It provides a wide range of south america interspecies enrichment and it is a filler animal that is also not boring.
Least Favorite: Wild Water Buffalo - You know, I am not even sure why I picked it, the model is beautiful, but it just kind of...exists for me.

Conservation:
Favorite: Siamang - I prefer Lar Gibbon, but it is still a great animal, moreso now that it was updated to brachiate on ropes and climbing pieces. Their chorus behaviour can be loud as hell, but when you hear those call from the opposite of your zoo, it is just charming.
Least Favorite: Amur Leopard - I was never that interested in getting a leopard, but I am glad they chose the Amur subspecies. I love its coat and its resting on logs. Not a bad pick either, but it is just the least interesting to me.

Twillight:
Favorite: Common Wombat - I think this is a great model with alot of great animations and a much needed Australian representation. This was the only case where I really was mostly excited by the exhibit species, but since I excluded them, wombat it is.
Least Favorite: Raccoon - I have nothing against Racoons, but I greatly prefer Coatis. It is still greatly animated and Frontier gave it alot of personality, but I had to pick one.

Grasslands:
Favorite: Maned Wolf - Me and canids, oh boy. I just love those dogs on stilts. More interestingly, it can be housed with Giant Anteaters which make it very interesting for me personally. Such an odd mix, but it works great to showcase the South American Grasslands.
Least Favorite: Blue Wildebeest - I think the model is stunning and it is THE wildebeest from nature documentaries, but the other animals are just more interesting to me.

Tropical:
Favorite: Red River Hog - I was advocating for them alot. They can be combined with HUGE number of african species in real life and in game but they also work as a great standalone filler species, that is interesting and fun to look at due to their colourful coats.
Least Favorite: Asian Water Monitor - The model itself is amazing, but I think there were other monitors more interesting to pick from. This one is really similar to the Nile monitor. Or, at least would be if the Nile monitor model was not so outdated.

Arid:
Favorite: African Crested Porcupine - I guess this is not a surprise. This is just an amazing African filler species with many great uses and another classical zoo animal (from my European viewpoint of course).
Least Favorite: Black Rhinioceros - Hard to pick, at first it was the Dama Gazelle, but they grew so much on me, due to their amazing model. I like the Black rhino, but I was content with just the White Rhino.

Oceania:
Favorite: Kiwi - It is really nice to see NZ being represented in a zoo game and I liked this bird since I was a little. A little bit rare outside its native range but not unheard of.
Least Favorite: Quokka - Adorable little marsupials, but they were probably chosen for their meme popularity. I would prefer Tree Kangaroo, Echidna or even another Wallaby in its place.

Eurasia:
Favorite: Takin - I wish that in this case, it would be specified as Sichuan Takin, but other that that I really like this animal. Great for sections with Snow Leopards, Red Pandas and the likes. It is a pretty interesting looking caprid.
Least Favorite: Saiga - Another weird choice, they are incredibly hard to keep in captivity, which limits its use for me, like with some previous animals. For Asian ungulate, I would have prefer something more universal, like a Reeves Muntjac or even the Blackbuck.

Barnyard:
Favorite: Alpaca - Surprised how much I like them. Even if it is a domesticated animal, it still has this exotic feel to me and they are used in South American sections in zoos. The possibility to mix them with sheeps as a guardian against foxes and other predators is an interesting concept and one that I will use for sure.
Least Favorite: American Standard Donkey - I would prefer the miniature version to further distinguish them from theit wild cousins. I would pefer a duck, but I feel like a Mallard would not really fit into this domesticated theme of the pack. Peking duck would probably be chosen which is a little bland to be honest.

This is a huge wall of texts. Kudos to anyone who read the whole thread! Took me a while.

Zookeepers animal pack:
Favourite: Both the bear and tortoise are pretty close, but I am going to pick the Spectacled Bear. It is from South America and it is looking great. For versatility the tortoise would win though.
Least favourite: Pallas Cat - not a fan.

Arctic Pack:
Favourite - Reindeer:
Just an extremely iconic polar species and the first deer added to the game.
Least Favourite - Arctic Wolf: I don't mind the Arctic wolf as much as some people, it's an animal that's quite distinct from the "timber wolf" despite being the same species, but it's no mystery that there were more interesting choices.

South America Pack:
Favourite - Giant Anteater: A super unique and awesome looking animal, our first xenarthran.
Least Favourite - Jaguar: Not among my favourite big cat species, and I was already pretty satisfied with the number of big cats we had in the base game.

Australia Pack:
Favourite - Dingo:
No doubt going to be the animal most frequently appearing as people's least favourite of this pack, but I've always been one of the biggest defenders of dingoes on this forum and I absolutely adore them.
Least Favourite - Koala: Absolutely essential (as every animal in the Australia Pack was for me), the koala is just held back slightly compared to the other animals in the pack by an overly cutesy model and being unrealistically active. Still love them regardless.

Aquatic Pack:
Favourite - Grey Seal:
Even if they're not as common as sea lions in zoos, I love earless seals and was super happy to get one here. I still love the way they move even if I don't use them very often nowadays (as with all animals in the Aquatic Pack).
Least Favourite - Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman: It's cute and pretty, but too small for most habitats and we now have a certified Better Caiman.

Southeast Asia Animal Pack:
Favourite - Sun Bear:
One of my all time favourite animals, they're weird goblin animals in the best possible way and I love them so much. Why would you want more bears when the peak of bear evolution is in the game already smh (my lawyer recommends I stress this is a joke).
Least Favourite - Malayan Tapir: Shouldn't be my least favourite, but you know why it's here.

Africa Pack:
Favourite - Fennec Fox:
Hard choice between this and the meerkat, but the fennec fox is just adorable and my go-to choice for a fox species.
Least Favourite - African Penguin: Not a bad addition in the slightest, just the only habitat animal from the pack I don't get a ton of use out of.

North America Animal Pack:
Favourite - American Alligator:
The only animal from the pack I really use, and use a ton at that. Icon of the southern swamps and my favourite crocodilian in the game.
Least Favourite - Arctic Fox: Not the worst, just feels kinda there and out of sync with the rest of the pack.

Europe Pack:
Favourite - European Fallow Deer:
This was the one European animal that was always high on my wishlist, and it was such a great surprise to see them appear in this pack (I think most people were expecting red deer). What's even more unexpected is that it became my favourite ungulate in the game and remains so to this day.
Least Favourite - Alpine Ibex: Great addition, but someone has to come last.

Wetlands Animal Pack:
Favourite - Platypus:
Even if not a super essential species (echidna will always be the more needed monotreme), FINALLY getting another Australian animal after a year and a half of waiting was such a treat and I'm really happy to have them in the game. As someone who mostly builds in Australia I get a lot more use of out of them than most people lol.
Least Favourite - Nile Lechwe: Once again an animal I quite like, the rest of the pack was just so strong for me (yes, even the buffalo and caiman) that something has to be in last place.

Conservation Pack:
Favourite - Siamang:
Swinging into action, it's now somewhat surpassed by the lar gibbon in quality but still such a great animal. I love hearing their calls across the zoo.
Least Favourite - Amur Leopard: another spotty big cat woo I guess

Twilight Pack:
Favourite - Common Wombat:
LETS GOOOOO my favourite animal in the game until the devil finally takes their rightful place on the throne (maybe this month? Hopefully?). They were just brought to life so well and carried the pack hard for me (alongside the actual bats).
Least Favourite - Striped Skunk: It's more unique than the red fox but somehow I find it less interesting. It sure is an animal that exists.

Grasslands Animal Pack:
Favourite - Emu:
Finally a zoo game with emus, words cannot stress how needed this addition was.
Least Favourite - Blue Wildebeest: Very iconic animals, but there are other antelopes I'd much prefer. The only habitat animal in the pack that wasn't on my wishlist.

Tropical Pack:
Favourite - Fossa:
One of the two carnivorans I considered essential at the start of the year (the other being the coati, still MIA), and it was great to see Madagascar finally get something besides lemurs.
Least Favourite - Red River Hog: Can understand why a lot of people love it, but it's always been an animal that's done little for me. Babirusa will always be the superior tropical hog don't @ me.

Arid Animal Pack:
Favourite - Dromedary Camel:
Wouldn't have expected a "clone" to come out on top for me, especially with the porcupine in the mix, but the dromedary is quite possibly the best made animal in the game. It looks godly.
Least Favourite - Somali Wild Ass: Hard choice between this and the sand cat, both just do very little for me personally.
Oceania Pack:
Favourite - Tasmanian Devil:
My constant brain state since this little beastie's addition may be best summarised by this official PZ tiktok: Source: https://www.tiktok.com/@planetzoogame/video/7284638678985575713

Least Favourite - North Island Brown Kiwi: I really adore every animal in this pack, but unfortunately it's a case where something has to be last and the wonderful and essential kiwi is just the least useable for me.
(I'm also sticking to the trend of not including exhibit animals, so no spectacled flying fox in the ranking. They'd be my least favourite, although I still love 'em)

Eurasia Animal Pack:
Favourite - Mute Swan:
All praise be to the mighty swan, fowl of the water. Pretty easy standout amongst Eurasia given most of the animals didn't do much for me personally.
Least Favourite - Wisent: Very important animal for Europe, but I won't use it over the American bison (even though it looks much better lol - Frontier could you please at least resize the poor old bison?).
Barnyard Animal Pack:
Favourite - Alpaca:
Despite already having the llama, this was the "farmland" animal I always found myself wanting the most, both because they're so much more common than llamas here (on farms and in zoos) and because I just find them more visually appealing. Frontier absolutely nailed them, the texture work on their wool is unreal - I just wanna give them a hug!
Least Favourite - Tamworth Pig: The weird breed choices are really what brought this pack down for me, and Tamworth pig was probably the most disappointing of them all for me. Can't believe we got a scenario set in New Zealand but no kunekune.

Zookeepers Animal Pack:
Favourite - African Spurred Tortoise:
Been wanting a new habitat tortoise for ages, and we finally got one! Very common in zoos and a great addition to Africa areas and reptile houses alike.
Least Favourite - Pallas' Cat: Just not really an animal that appeals to me personally.

Arctic Pack:
Favorite: Reindeer, just a solid animal inclusion
Least Favorite: Arctic Wolf, a pointless clone of the Timber Wolf

South America Pack:
Favorite: Giant Anteater, such a unique animal
Least Favorite: Llama, not a huge fan of domesticated species in general

Australia Pack:
Favorite: Southern Cassowary, a gorgeous model and some really neat sound design
Least Favorite: Dingo, just another somewhat generic canine

Aquatic Pack:
Favorite: King Penguin, getting a penguin at the time was just so novel, and it still holds up today
Least Favorite: Giant Otter, they're butt-ugly, and a better alternative was later added

Southeast Asia Animal Pack:
Favorite: Binturong, an inspired choice, and good on Frontier for listening to the player feedback about it
Least Favorite: Dhole, see reasoning for Dingo

Africa Pack:
Favorite: Meerkat, a staple zoo animal that can actually burrow underground
Least Favorite: Sacred Scarab Beetle, probably our worst exhibit animal inclusion to date

North America Animal Pack:
Favorite: American Alligator, a stunning model and just a good pick in general
Least Favorite: Black-Tailed Prairie Dog, not a bad choice at all, it just seems like Frontier really wanted to use the Meerkat rig again

Europe Pack:
Favorite: Eurasian Lynx, a majestic animal and our first European feline
Least Favorite: European Badger, a roadkill animal that took the place of a more deserving animal like the Wolverine

Wetlands Animal Pack:
Favorite: Red-Crowned Crane, one of my favorite animals in the entire game
Least Favorite: Danube Crested Newt, way too small for the exhibits, they're barely visible

Conservation Pack:
Favorite: Siamang, really cool sounds and they brachiate, need I say more
Least Favorite: Scimitar-Horned Oryx, not a terrible choice, just seemed like a bit of a Gemsbok clone

Twilight Pack:
Favorite: Common Wombat, an adorable chonker
Least Favorite: Striped Skunk, another roadkill animal, and one of the weakest DLC animals to date

Grasslands Animal Pack:
Favorite: Maned Wolf, I wanted this animal for a long time, and now that we have it, it's everything I wanted
Least Favorite: Blue Wildebeest, nothing against it, I just wish we got it in the base game so its slot in this pack could be filled by something else

Tropical Pack:
Favorite: Fossa, finally some Madagascar representation that isn't another lemur
Least Favorite: Asian Water Monitor, I love it, just less than the other four animals in this pack

Arid Animal Pack:
Favorite: African Crested Porcupine, Frontier went above and beyond bringing this animal to life, premium work
Least Favorite: Black Rhinoceros, while the model is good, I never understood the appeal of a third rhino

Oceania Pack:
Favorite: Tasmanian Devil, the top animal of a lot of people's wishlists for years, and now that it's in the game, it's amazing
Least Favorite: Spectacled Flying Fox, while I don't mind a second bat, it is just kind of a clone of the Egyptian Fruit Bat

Eurasia Animal Pack:
Favorite: Wolverine, but just barely, such an incredible model
Least Favorite: Wisent, it's just a more detailed American Bison without looking different enough to justify its inclusion
Barnyard Animal Pack:
N/A

Zookeepers Animal Pack:
Favorite: Hamadryas Baboon, the last must-have Old World primate and a stellar inclusion
Least Favorite: Coquerel's Sifaka, normally I'd be ecstatic getting two primates in one pack, but it stole the slot of a New World primate. I think I hate that more than the animal itself tbh, because it's a good animal choice in a vacuum

Well, I have enough love for the Pallas Cat for all of you, so it doesn't matter if you hate it.
