What is your favourite animal of 2023?

Of course, gazelle are a key animal for african savanna habitats, the more variety of gazelle, the better. Personally one of my favourite animals from the arid pack where others like the porcupine and camel I couldn't care much about.
How can an opinion be so based yet so dismissive of the two true carrys of the arid pack?
But yeah i super agree with the first part, gazelles are cool and important as a very different flavor of antelope, but the two we had since the base game where kinda basic and very similar, so getting a very unique looking, larger and differently colored gazelle really helped to diversify them

I like the Gazelle but at the same time I don't. I get that frontier likes to improve base game animals with "newer versions" of them like the bison/wisent, blue/black wildebeest, bactrian/dromedary camel, etc. and I think it is visually one of the best animals of not only the Arid pack, but this year in general. However, I can't help but think that another species of african ungulate would've done better and add more to the game as we already have 2 species of gazelle (counting springbok). Normally I would say whatever because in the case of the dromedary and wisent, usually those have another purpose besides being a clone whether its because they are an icon of their continent or are easily recognizable, but the Dama Gazelle is neither of those things. Most people don't even know what it looks like at first read, and gazelles in general weren't something people were wanting for a "newer version" of compared to the camel.
An eland in my opinion, would've been the superior choice. It serves as an upgrade to the bongo and nyala of the base game and its unique enough from the other ungulates.

It is a crime they picked the lame gazelle over the gerenuk, why would you do that? Only really bad choice this year together with the monitor and wisent, which should have been the victoria crowned pigeon and gaur

Dama Gazelle has way more conservation value in a zoo and is more common than the Gerenuk so I get the preference for the Dama Gazelle tbh.

Blabla value, real life zoo blabla, I don’t care for that at all, I care for looks, uniqueness and bringing something new on the table.

100% clones are bad
