Hardware & Technical What is your PC hardware specs?

Hi, for my first thread I would like to see what is your hardware spec. I think around Christmas it will be a good time for some hardware upgrade and I'm considering 980ti (second hand).

So let's see some hardware specs here:

CPU: intel Xeon 1230v3 @ 3.7 (yes it is overclocked via BIOS )
RAM: 8 GB
Video Card(s): AMD R9 290 @ 1040/1350

In game I have 60 FPS at Ultra and just shadows at High not Ultra quality. So I think it is Custom quality then.

(All of the above is inspired by the better graphics poll. I want more detailed game graphics, and I think I'll need a better graphics card for this.)

I think new 1070 would be a better deal (warranty etc. in addition to slightly better performance), unless you get the 980ti really cheap.

Core i7 4790 @4GHz
Gtx1070 (OC'd to 2050MHz)
16gb ram

Everything Ultra/Highest, 16x anisotropic filtering forced via control panel. Running at 3840x2160 (4k) but with 0.85x supersamping to make my effective resolution just 3264x1836.

Runs at locked 60 except on a planets surface with a lot of other cmdrs around where the fps can drop to 45-50.

I'd certainly vote for the 1070 over the 980ti just for the newer architecture and lower power consumption. I am slightly biased though, got my 1070 on the day they launched for only £20! Well okay, it was some store credit I'd been sitting on for years that I finally used.

i5 Quad Core @3.1
8gb RAM
GTX 660
Windows 8.0
Locked at 30 fps with planetary visuals at medium settings, shadows on low.
ReShade used because graphics. :p
1080p, 1.0x SS, SMAA.

Want to build a completely new rig with a 1070 to be future proof for a few years.

AMD Phenom II X4 860
8gb DDR3 ram
GeForce G1 GTX 1070

I have set all specs to Ultra and supersampling to 2x
I get around 45 fps only even when i set supersampling back to 1x and on planet bases to assault with some ships....there i crash down to 15 fps :(
I can't explain it. Surface starports are okay, surface itself is okay, only these bases to assault are very bad. And i expected more than 45 fps (no it's not locked)

You are probably going to find that it's the processor seriously bottlenecking the card, it is as old as the hills (but quite good for its age - I used to have a system based around the 965BE, that is still hanging on at 6 years old!). Wait for Zen (if you want to stick with AMD) or spend £400 on my sisters build below (minus the GPU) to unleash the potential of that 1070, it is wasted on the Phenom unfortunately.

As for my current system:

AMD Athlon 860k (GPU less version of their 7850K APU) running at around 4.2 GHz
MSI A88X-G45 Gaming
16GB of DDR3
Asus Strix GTX 960 2GB OC

I get 60FPS everywhere on High settings but I run with SS at 1.0.

My sisters system that I've just built:

Skylake i5 6500
ASROCK Z170 Extreme4 Mobo
16Gb of DDR4
EVGA GTX 1060

Now that I'd like to put through it's paces with ED.

According to leaks, AMDs Zen is slightly slower than the competition. Typical AMD hype.

I'd guess serious bottlenecking as well. :) And a quick Google search suggest this as well.

Spec in signature also running at 80 field of view. Locked to 60fps but drops around 40 on the ground.

Changed my PC recently :

- i7 6700K
- Asus Maximus VIII Hero
- 4x8Gb DDR4 @ 3200MHz
- MSI GTX 970 x2 (SLI)
- Samsung 850 SSDs (system: 250Gb 850Pro, games : 1Tb 850 Evo)

All this is running on an old 24 inch full HD screen, so I have no trouble getting 60+fps.

@OP, if you consider changing your graphics card, I would also go for a GTX 1070 instead of a 980Ti (as suggested Zieman and other people) : better performances for less consumption, and depending where you're from, a lower ambient temperature in your room ;)

Cheers,

CMDR Poulpe

Nice discussion here :) Currently I have 60 FPS locked but you never know what will happened during next Year :) I'm dreaming about some RIFT/Vive but it is very pricey for now. Maybe next year. Keep posting your configs.
