What just happened to me?

So. I was in a low level conflict zone in Lalande 5761. I set my faction to Amunet aristocrats and then targeted a red flagged Anaconda (Alliance of Lalande 5761) and engaged. It was a long battle (I'm in a Diamondback Scout and no one was helping me) but eventually I win out. As my target is exploding in front of me I am notified that I am now wanted for murdering a system security vessel and I have a 6k bounty on my head with the Lalande 5761 Federal Industry faction (the controlling faction for the system), who as far as I can tell, did not have any dogs in this fight. I thought if you went into a conflict zone and declared for one faction or another then the red units were fair game and you wouldn't get a wanted status for attacking them.

Have I missed something obvious, or are conflict zones a bit broken at the mo? I've been away from the game for a while and haven't been keeping up with the latest developments since PP landed.

Thanks for any help anyone feels like giving...

I got a few wanted status things when in CZ's recently. Was pretty sure I hadn't attacked any of the good guys as well.
Been also noticing a lot of "Elite" vessels in Low CZ's as well.
Nanaoman regards the "Elite" ships in Low CZ's when it was recently just flipped a few days ago.

I did wonder if it was something to do with the controlling faction objecting to me attacking non-wanted targets in their system - even if it was in a conflict zone. Maybe that's just what happens to you if you engage in open warfare in a system without being on the controlling factions side? If anyone from FD happens through this thread it would be good to get a definitive answer. It seems like a bug, but I don't want to report it as such if it's just me not understanding a complex but intended game effect.

If you've unwittingly left the CZ during the course of the battle, normal system law applies and you can get a bounty.

Thx Morbad. That might be what happened. I didn't realise you could fly out of a conflict zone without going back into supercruise. How far away from the conflict zone center counts as 'out'?

It used to be 20km, but that was a long time ago. It's at least 60km now.

Found an odd cz glitch last night. One appeared in a system where no one was at war. The cz was just full of ships all flying round each other doing nothing.
