What keeps you company out there?

Radio Sidewinder, Lave Radio, X Rebirth OST (which is amazing btw), Tron Leg OST ... And so on. But most the time in game sound music and A.S.T.R.A.

Fly safe.
Thanks OP for the links...

NOTHING.
Not even in game music.
Only the sound of engines and scanner, and the notes and sounds of object from system map.

No music, no video, nothing on other screens.
At best a tablet where i note down every interesting discovery.
Alt-tabbing also ruins immersion and it's strictly forbidden: all scan data is re-emailed to me from the tablet, and when i am not playing i copy paste it all in shiny excell sheet.

i reckon they have car stereos in the future

Besides the usual sidewinder radio, forum browsing and looking up astronomy information, my favorite accompaniment in the black is old scifi radio dramas. Mostly it's silly stuff like 'The Adventures of Captain so and so, space buccaneer' as implausible and over-the-top as possible. Just something about the juxtaposition of a space explorer listening to silly concepts of space exploration that feels immersive and fun.
But then once in awhile a really great one will play:

they're all over youtube and the internet and easy to find

Just the reflection of my dead co-pilot hollow stare in the front window. j/k... or am I?

Actually nothing other that the in game music and sounds.

"That'll be the Day" 's 2015 tour CD (Greatest Rock 'n' Roll tribute band in the country)
Just about anything Bowie - Life on Mars, Ziggy Stardust, Major Tom
Haynes Classic Rock Anthems
or if I'm in need of some Ska, well, it has to be Madness.

But long periods of supercruise just beg for some E.L.O. or O.M.D.

What I imagine I'd be doing on a RL voyage of this magnitude...well stocked kindle and Netflix.

Have only made a couple short trips so far, but the Asp is almost kitted out for a longer expedition...we will see if those two distractions hold up out in the black.
