What kind of challenges do you make for yourself?

I like to make my own rules every now and then when I play the game in sandbox mode. I would often start from scratch with some set rules I would make.

One of my favorites I made is:

"I hate getting wet" 🌧

• light storms
• Normal disease
• Unlimited lifespan
• Money at start
• Maximum combat
• Normal breakouts
• High dinosaur variety

All dinosaurs I will incubate must be really high in attack, and at the most aggressive comfort they could possibly be that is not 100%. And the task is to build a 5 star park with as many dinosaurs I could get and try to keep the park together during storms. And I have to repair with the ranger team, no deleting and replace in creator mode.

That sounds super tough! Have you beaten your own challenge yet?

I´m a fan of creative challenges for example:

Raptor enclosure from JP:

Build the most realistic Raptor enclosure from JP with this requirements:

  • three Raptors
  • one of them with the name "Big One"
  • "Big One" needs a fight score of 2000 (only Raptorkills)

I'm taking some of the Community Challenges personally.

So far I've achieved:
  • Challenge mode:
    • Complete Jurassic difficulty without researching stronger fences
    • Complete with herbivores only (also, Jurassic difficulty)
    • Complete Jurassic difficulty on Isla Tacaño (ok, I did this one before the Community Challenges thing)
  • Sandbox mode:
    • 5 star park with only Struthiomimus
and right now I'm trying to complete challenge mode on Jurassic difficulty in the Tacaño Research Facility map, with carnivores only (just like that Pena achievement, because why not?).

Here's the self-imposed challenges of my current project (not game mechanics):

  • only concrete fences along main pathways (don't want Dinos stressing out and allowed some privacy and tranquility)
  • no electric fences along any pathway (to prevent 'Little Tommy' from sticking his tongue on it)
  • herbivores cannot see large carnivores
  • large carnivores cannot see herbivores
  • dinosaurs must be grouped in sectors of the park divided by era
  • guests are sealed in via light fence (again, to stop Little Tommy from looking for an electric fence to stick his tongue on)
  • main pathways must be level and consistent
  • monorail must be level and consistent
  • monorail must snake into viewing range of every enclosure
  • the main event dinosaurs must have a terrain feature to make them prominent ( Rex has an island, Allosaurus on a hill overlooking the Jurassic sector, etc)

Nice! I like the narrative approach. :D

Sandbox mode:

I actually did something similar. The one triceratops park! Where I reach a 5 star park with only a single dinosaur. And a lot of dead indoraptors XD

  • herbivores cannot see large carnivores
  • large carnivores cannot see herbivores
Hmmmm, I gotta try that. I never tried this before :D

(...)right now I'm trying to complete challenge mode on Jurassic difficulty in the Tacaño Research Facility map, with carnivores only (just like that Pena achievement, because why not?).

I got stuck and gave up, but re-started with a new self-imposed challenge: complete without any genetic modifications, and just finished it!
