What kind of Star is THIS?

 wow what system is that in?

I know the distant star in I bootes is a brown (deep infra red) dwarf, but haven't seen one of those yet!

I assume it's a brown dwarf, looks cool whatever it is.

Trying to find that spreadsheet listing all the systems and stars to check.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Frobitz, should have thought of just checking for the RL star ;)

Apparently there's a white dwarf in CM Drago which is in the available systems. Not sure I can reach it in a Viper though. Anyone been?

That WISE thing is a project to detect this kind of star, thus the name.
It's pretty awesome looking.

I guess it's a kind of Hyper-Jupiter, altough apparently it isn't the coolest spectral class (I admit I know nothing about this not on wikipedia)

Draco B is a white dwarf but it is so small you can't get close enough to see it well. You come out of hyper space and it almost looks like a bug because you are used to having a start all up in your grill. It is there just you have to look for it. Apparently the distance we can get to some objects is defined by how well modeled they currently are. So I guess they might add detail to this one and then we can get closer and have a better look. But that is just a guess.

Hi folks,

The "emissions" around this dwarf star are actually the result of a spot dimming effect by the photo-reactive cockpit material. Unfortunately in this case, it is being a little too enthusiastic and dimming too strongly for such a low luminosity star.

Planned upgrades to the materials will rebalance the contribution from this system.

Many thanks.

Would said effect still apply if the canopy were broken?

Out of that semi-character, I believe it is intended to always be on in some fashion. Once this is fixed, it should be a very subtle effect.
Without some explanation + feature like this, an exposed player near a star would be blinded/dead, which would make game-play rather difficult.

That's a Brown Dwarf star.

Brown dwarfs are substellar objects too low in mass to sustain hydrogen-1 fusion reactions in their cores.

A red dwarf is a small and relatively cool star on the main sequence, either late K or M spectral type.

White dwarfs are pretty small (planet-sized) but have a mass that far exceeds anything of the same siez, meaning you will likely get trapped before you can see any significant details if the model is correct.

The more of these shots I see the more I appreciate how beautiful this game is. Drawn to stars like a moth to a flame. :)

Looking forward to Neutron stars and other exotics.
