What Makes you Jump In ED?

And I don't mean Hyperspace. Lol

What actually startles you, in Elite Dangerous?

For me, I don't startle easily. Even most horror movies with their jump scares don't make me flinch.

Yet some odd times in ED, I'll get caught off guard.

Usually for me, it's those unannounced interdictions you get sometimes. The ones that don't send comms.
They'll often wake me up. Lol

Sometimes unexpectedly hitting an exclusion zone, when I'm overly confident that I'll not hit it, or hitting an orbital cruise zone slightly too fast, can also make me jump, a bit.

But actually that's all for me, but I was curious if anything else made anyone else jump?

Close binaries, black holes and neutron stars inject a little adrenaline every time (don't know why, they're no more dangerous than other stars really, it's probably just the visual impact and the 'danger will Robinson' effect), apart from that, I get a buzz from smuggling, but that's not quite the same thing.

For me it has got to be those times when I high wake and arrive at a giant star of any kind. That usually startles me. Or better yet. When I arrive at what I call "toaster systems". Where you pretty much arrive way too close to a set of binary stars (with only some LS apart). Those things almost make me jump through the roof.

:p

I also forgot to add the "server transaction error" that can pop up randomly.

If it happens while jumping, I'm fine, but any other time and it can often startle me. Lol

You have a mighty serious nervous disorder if you can find ANYTHING in ED that manages to make you jump [haha]

I guess you haven't flown in VR :D

@Op - Used to be dropping out at the wrong end of an orbital station, flying through a binary star, dodging a ship whilst in glide. Probably the worst thing that has happened is dropping within a few meters of a Majestic class interdictor whilst in VR, I had to pour myself a strong drink after that one.

Most of those bugs have been squashed now, sadly 2.4 has ended flying through binary stars.

Just had one of these moments not twenty minutes ago-

Jumped into a white dwarf system, which I was expecting. My next destination was behind me, so I casually flip 180. Except I rolled a bit when I did, as soon as I charged my FSD I start flailing about in the dwarfs cone and my balloon knot puckered quite a bit. Luckily I was at the very end of the cone and it spit me out
