Horizons What minor changes/features would you like to ask from FDev ?

I've already thrown that suggestion out once... long since buried..

A zoom function in the SRV turret view.

Imagine Halo Wars Cobra with scope....railgun sniper SRV!!!! designed for one shotting outcrops (and skimmers hehe)
 
By the way, come to think of it..... shouldn't fallen satellites be in the middle of craters ? We might eventually make indestructible metals, but you can't ignore the laws of physics/gravity.

Higher the gravity of a planet, the bigger the crater should be

Easy route plotting

for explorers it would be cool to be able to buy/upgrade modules that let you plan a longer rout in the galaxy map instead of plotting 100 routes to get to a distant system

also a way to change the different colours of the hud, I know you can kind of do it but it needs to be in game and individually change the main colour, hostile targets on radar, friendly targets and stuff like that
 
Just doubling down on graphic quality. There are a lot of things that haven't changed - or have actually regressed - since the game was release. That's a couple of years now, and it's starting to feel neglected.

* planet surfaces - we're patiently waiting for atmospherics, but don't stop improving current landfall planets. Better surface textures, better geology. Don't stop until it's hard to distinguish a Horizons screenshot from a photo of a real moon.
* galaxy background - such a simple fix, but so annoying. Make it a lot darker please. Space is too bright in ED by a couple of orders of magnitude
* Gas giants - need another overhaul. They are far too cartoonish still. And....ring shadows?
* Nebula - once they looked realistic. Now...not so much.
* Stars - look brighter the further you are from them. Fix this - makes them bloom more when close. Attacking someone from the direction of the sun should be a distinct advantage - at the moment it actually makes it easier to see them!
* Stations - hmm. Actually these look pretty good. More asteroid bases please!

I believe David B. mentioned that Gas "planets" are getting a huge overhaul. Latest word was that we are going to be able to scoop from these gas giants (whatever that means). Either way, this is 1 part that is already planned for improvement.
 
You asked. here you go.

A whole new mission system with an actual Immersive properly Implemented MISSION SYSTEM. IMO the mission system in ED is the worst I have ever seen. And to top it off the most boring of any I have played in my over 30 years of pc gaming. This game has so much potential but FDEV still will not fix the original from beta problems like the mission system. I just came back after about 9 months off from this game and still plays almost exactly like it did in beta and exactly like it did months ago. still no REAL gameplay changes. they keep making these dang addons that they try to sell or these updates that add no real gameplay but make you think they have been doing something. Yes its a lot of work but use the resources for fixing the game instead of adding crap or making other stuff that just focuses on getting money. oooo wow they added some eggs and a spaceship.. wow that will add about 5 min. of new gameplay. Still to this day we cannot reenact or do what the original trailer for the game advertised. Wings need to be reworked also. This waiting for your wing commander to jump before your drive spools is horrible and when someone in your wing is dragged out of SC. it still doesn't drop you into the same regular space in a really usable manner. IE my wingman get pulled out of SC then I wasn't within range as is the situation for a lot. Then I spend 1 to 2 min or a little less trying to drop into the same space. When I finally do its almost; or it is over and someone is dead because I couldn't get there fast enough. And yes nav-lock and beacon are on. Been playing this from the beta and brought many players in which all have left do these negatives. especially the mission system. as soon as friends get used to it. They are ready to quit do the lack of immersiveness and the incredibly simple structure and reuse of it in the galaxy IE; no matter where you go from one end to the other if there are ends to the game universe lol. You will see the exact same mission within the very few categories that ed has. it will be the same exact missions with a different name or a different place. and that's it. SO you mean to tell me that in 4 billion stars and systems that nothing specific or something different happens or needs to be done in that specific system that may take multiple trips and then may need to delve deeper into the life of a station dweller. Not sure about you guys but I'm really tired of this and the same damn station everywhere no new stations. Nothing that makes you WANT to feel or support or help the individuals or person giving the mission. Still there is no way to transfer money or pay someone who has helped you or protected you during a transport. And the divvying system where you get a portion or profit from the transports sell IS NOT ENOUGH TO GET REAL PEOPLE TO HELP YOU. not to mention what if you wanted to go after a commander for being a pirate or killing you and you want to hire help. You cant....... because you cannot give them pay for it. And transferring cargo... really? yeah I want to spend 2 hours transferring cargo to someone for helping and they sure don't want to. anyway wish they would just fix ED instead of adding useless stuff like the powers. or ps4 or xbox. JUST FIX THE DAMN GAME FIRST it is getting boring for players who really want to keep playing. Hell add some player created missions. And last.... ED was supposed to be a mmo which is in reality a social game. But yet there are so many limiting factors that keep you from interacting or being realistically social. These limitations like no money transfer and wing interface and just plain lack of attention to normal gameplay and social interaction that we in todays gaming world need or want.

I would like to regularly see 10-15 Horizon missions on the Mission Board (rather than the 1 or 2 non-delivery ones that I typically see since 2.3 was released). :-(

Their intro into the game is a terrible, at least on PC, you're greeted by a grand logo that goes into loading followed up by a terrible looking menu, they need to do something about that. At least that's what it's like on PC don't know about consoles.

Smuggling goods into the stations should pay a lot more. I mean just from a game plays point of view. You're going to a dangerous place just to sell stuff on the black market for less than it's worth. Just makes no sense.

Goods should cost a lot less on planets than in the station too. I mean I am going through the trouble of landing which just takes long and sometimes can go terrably... ouch.
 
- IMMERSION: Give players feet ! How difficult could that be ? I have literally spent dozens of hours (and still do!) in SC standing in Port Olisar at the windows, watching spaceships come and go, walk through an airlock and accross the landing pads towards my ship. Then after an intense walkaround around my proud ship entering it, walking across my ship and enter the cockpit ... starting up, flying away. That's pure immersion !
Model some ship interiours, model some space station interiours ! Doesn't have to be a full station, just a few generic arrival halls after leaving your landing pad as a start ! That would add so much immersion !
In ED you are just nailed into a cockpit, only possible interaction is through an ugly outdated port board with zero (ZERO!) immersion !

- HOME 1: Give players a home ! Once we have feet we could leave our ships and enter our home - something we could rent or buy! A room somewhere on a space/planetary station where we are "warped" through an elevator like transport system. Housing is such a huge topic in all MMOs - not in ED...why ? Again - having a home adds so much immersion ! Additionally some storage - a storage area where we could store our valuable stuff, trade goods, whatever. SImply a home where players can return after a long mission or trade or exploration run to relax, feel home, drop off stuff etc.

- HOME 2: Give players a home in space - their spaceship ! Imagine you're thousands of lightyears away from any other human beings - all you have around you is your spaceship... it keeps you alife, it protects you from deadly vacuum, from radiation, from the huge black void that space is. In ED you are still nailed to your cockpit seat - nothing else, no way to feel that you're having a home around you, nothing to walk, no place with personal stuff, no place to sleep or have a break, just a cockpit seat. It's so incredibly immersion killing it hurts!

- BALANCE: In a small ship with small cargo space try to do a trade run - ridiculous amounts of money to be made. Then take a mission and transport 5 units of BIOWASTE over 10Ly and realize that you make ten times the money of your trade run - BIOWASTE!!! Then transport a single person 5Ly and you can make nearly a million. Really ? Balance ? Immersion killing!

- DIVERSITY: Make things to do more diverse ! There's basically ZERO interplanetary stuff to do. Why ? You'd expect that this would be the major part of pax and cargo transport missions in a real world! Would be fun to call a system your home and transport stuff between space stations or planetary stations within a system. At least it would be a welcome change of hyperjumping every time your doing something.

- EXPLORATION: Give players a chance to do exploration that actually deserves the name exploration. Press a button - BOOOONG - now we know all celestial bodies in a system. Uh - really ? Then approach a body, watch circles on the HUD moving towards you, then we know everything about it! Everything ! Discovered, explored, on to the next system. BOOOONG - circles - explored! Come on ! This is a nerdy space sim - give players some nerdy science stuff that's actually interesting and hard earned ! Players should have to earn their "Discovered by:" badge ! Add some scanner diversity, add some scientific functionality you can play with, add the ability to take some samples on planetary surfaces and to analyze them with special equipment of your space ship to actually KNOW how metal rich the planet is or if there was ancient life or if it had an atmosphere in the past - possibilities are endless!

I love Elite - I really do ! It's an amazingly modelled whole galaxy with freedom to do whatever you'd like to do - in theory ! A galaxy full of possibilities - in theory! And it could be an amazing mind boggling game that just sucks you in - in theory!
The problem is that out of those unlimited possibilities Frontier choose a handful and implemented them by 5%, maximum, and as unimmersive and boring as possible.
It would be easy to add so much more gameplay, diversity and immersion with little effort - instead: Fear the Thargoids - they come after you, they're an uberpower - sorry folks, no gameplay, just pewpew [where is it][knocked out]

Use font in UI that distinguishes clearly between the letter O (oh) and the numeral 0 (zero/naught).

My 2 cents

been trying to write a post for about 30 min with all the things i wish Fdev would implement but it just feels like a waste. If they ever read these forums they would have fleshed out game a lot more, fixed the mission system by now and probably would have made in-game player groups like guilds as i see no real reason to join player groups via the forums.

wish i could be a bit more positive about the game at this point as i really love playing it with my friends.
