What mod+experimental is best for rails in PVP?

So.... As console peeps ain't getting much more for Elite now.

Call me crazy but I've decided to engineer an ASP Scout for PvP coz...well why not?

Just curious as to what the best mod/exp would be?

It's 4 weapons consist of 2 Medium PAs and 2 Small Rails. Lackluster Hardpoint sizes if you ask me but eh, it's the Asp Scout XDD

I think it used to be that Long Range with Super Penetrator on one and Feedback Cascade on the other (the one that counters SCBs,) but that was some time ago when I gave PvP a whirl and it turned out I was abysmal at it so I’d listen to anyone else but me.😊

What does it have to do with console support? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just honestly don't get the relationship. Cheers.

The general FDL Meta for a two-Railgun setup is (or at least was) two Long Range Rails with Super Penetrator and Feedback Cascade. Nowadays its also possible to run a full loadout of Short Range Blaster Railguns and do some tremendous damage, assuming you can pull your opponent into a close-range brawl. Something like this:

Not super optimized, I just threw it together in a few minutes. My main concerns with the Scout are its large top and bottom profiles, low HP pool, two Utility slots and lack of speed (446 on a boost is really bad when you're up against FDLs Permaboosting @ ~550). Power is also somewhat of a concern as the Scout only has a Class 4 Powerplant, which limits what you can do in terms of weaponry and shields. If you're primarily hunting full-fixed FDLs, it may be worthwhile to swap out the Chaff Launcher for another Booster for a tad more Shield HP.

Naturally, heat buildup will also be a concern with an SRB Rail setup, but it can be mitigated through an Armored / Thermal Spread Powerplant (to give you a little more head room on your heat gauge) and some Distributor management / trigger discipline.

I did have some long range rails on my fdl. But swapped em out for short range super pen except one on fc exp.
X4 short range rails do a shed of damage to targeted internals.
Rapid firing huge multicannon with corrosive helps too

Big drawback is heat ..alot of heat hehe.
Low emissions build will limit your shields and boosters. Overcharged pp will explode hehe. Armoured pp with thermal will suffice

If you are really good with range control and aiming, short range blaster with superpen (increase the chance to hit multiple modules), feedback cascade (cancels SCB) or Plasma Slug (uses fuel instead of a limited ammo pool)

But the most common blueprint is Long range with either experimentals mentioned above

However, Asp Scout is much of a troll ship - deadlier for you than for your enemy
I would seriously recommend the Diamondback Scout if you are dead set on Scouts. Now the DBS is really nice - fast and extremely nimble and it has the same 2 med + 2 small hardpoints setup and a really tight convergence

Weapons combo: 2 cytos and 2 medium rails - it's a really nice setup to troll large whales like the Cutter, Conda or even the Vette
2 medium Torpedoes and small 2 rails or 2 small dumbfires are also nice for trolling large ships (usually 4 torpedoes are enough to kill regular shield gens)
