What new stuff needed for exploration? Been gone a while.

Hello,

I know I could dig through piles of posts from the last several months, but I thought I'd just ask if there's new things I need to consider having before going out on my next exploration trip.

I have an Asp Explorer that I'm totally happy with to go out again in. Even fitted it w/ an 6A scoop as a reward for my several months out.

The game has gone through a lot of changes, it seems, including Horizons, since my time away from it. I think it'll be worth it to upgrade to Horizons to go planet hopping while I'm out. I've seen some things in the settings like FSD boost but don't know what the value of that stuff is.

In short, what are some things I need to consider adding to my ship that weren't there last year?

Consider an armed shielded ship, bad things have been hinted at out in the black.
Srv hangar if you want to land on planets and perhaps some upgraded engineer parts (FSD drive particulary).

Ah, I need to familiarize myself with the engineer stuff while I'm here back at the bubble. Thanks! I keep nominal shields on my Asp for the ride in (although this time in I had no NPC fire flying into the outermost tech-based outpost). Never thought of brandishing guns.

If you want to land on planets you need an SRV Hangar and Vehicles.
Aside from that not much changed.

Scanners and AFM as well as Fuelscoop.

If you want to land on High Gravity Worlds you need a good Shield.

Not needed but helpful is the additional fuel tanks which allow you to take more jumps before refueling which helps covering dry places.
The Engineer FSD range upgrades are also helpfup of course :)

Too much for an ASP but by now its also usefup to have an refinery and mining laser to mine for materials in the far away places so you can Produce Repair Materials for your Ground Vehicle and also for your AFM module :)
