Newcomer / Intro What next? Advice and Suggest!

Hey guys!

My first day was pretty rough but after that ball started rolling I've done pretty well, I think. I'm on day 5 now, only being able to play about an hour or two a day, I'm already up to 1.5 million credits with a 24-cargo Adder. I'm kinda wondering what I should do next.

I'm still honing my piloting skills, landing and docking, etc, so I would like to stick to PvE non-combat for the moment I think. I figure if I keep focusing on making money and being a better pilot it will benefit me the most regardless of which direction I decide to take in the future. Having said that, I want to either continue trading or try out mining. Exploration seems cool too but the scanners look really expensive.

After you tell me which profession you think I should follow, suggest a ship? If I keep trading I'm not sure if I should buy a Type 6 or just keep saving toward the 7 with my little Adder. I think I am making about 400-450k per run atm. If I bought into a Type 6 I could make more per hour but I'd also be set back like 2.5 million or more in ship cost + outfitting? Getting a new ship is fun, but I am not sure if I'd be doing myself any favors... I guess I don't know the profit difference between my 24-cargo Adder and an upgraded Type 6. Plus with rare trading in my Adder, if I lose my ship and/or cargo, I'm only losing about 50k plus time.

With Mining I'm clueless because I haven't done it yet. I have no idea how competitive it would be versus trading at my current budget. For example, rare trading seems hardly worth it for a sidewinder; not enough cargo, better delivering messages. What is the optimal size to start mining and which type of ship is best? I should probably search for a mining guide, but feel free to voice your opinion anyway, I know you want to!

Thanks guys, great game and great forum community so far, loving it.

For trading, go for the t6, then clipper, then t9 or python. Don't forget you get 100% of your components and 90% of the ship when you want to upgrade to a better ship.

I had lots of fun trading and missions in the cobra until I could afford a t6

Never done mining, everyone, and I mean everyone says it sucks. Exploration is the non combat role of choice. Get 18 million, and get yourself a kitted out asp

Check Galnet, there's a exploration community goal going on in Tsu. I'm heading out now about 400ly from lave at the moment. I'm going to head out to about 1000ly the loop back towards Tsu and go economy route and see what happens when I get back.
