Fiction What Novel do I read first?

Greeting's Cmdr's!

With so many Elite novels to choose from, by so many talented authors I'm a bit lost where to start.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a novel to read first? I hear "Drew Wagar" wrote some of the early ones but also Kate Russell has some amazing ones too.

I'd preferably like a printed copy and not an ebook, which limits be I know.. :-(

Cheers.

Could always go back to the beginning and read "The Dark Wheel", its the novella that came with the original back in 84. You should be able to get it as a free pdf with a quick search. Or occasionally one will pop up on eBay.

If you want some free ebooks set in an 'Elite-like' universe - you can try my 'Oolite Saga' > http://www.drewwagar.com/books/oolitesaga/ (PDFs available if that helps).

There are a number of 'official' Elite Dangerous books. Physical copies are mostly sold out at this stage (only paperbacks left in my case), you may have better luck direct from the publisher.

I hope you enjoy it, both Kate and my novels require no previous knowledge of Elite in order to read and enjoy, they're both standalone in that sense. :) Though you will notice various things if you know your Elite whilst reading mine, there are nods to lore and to previous Elite games throughout Elite: Reclamation.

Cheers,

Drew.

Not sure if anyone is interested or not, but I found a copy of 'The Dark Wheel' online in PDF format, and I decided to create an ebook for reading on my phone while I was out walking the dog. The bonus was to find out the ebook reader actually read it for me while I'm walking so I'm now listening to the book.

Here's a copy if anyone want's it.

The file is also available here:

I also have the following converted to ebook too, but only the stories I could find:

Stories of Life on the Frontier mostly by David Massey
Imprint by Andy Redman
Further Stories of Life on the Frontier by various (only 4 stories related to the Game)

I'm also working on Frontier First Encounters Journals.

So not to bore people, let me know if I should publish links to the other 3 documents.

Many Thanks.

I think it's a nice idea to have a new thread with links to the official fiction from previous games. Maybe you could write it?
