What on earth is going on with law and order and 14.02?

I was away for several months prior to 14 and during this time my carrier balance fell into debt. When I came back post the update to 14 I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was smoother, frame rates that sometimes dropped to 20ish were now consistently in the 90s. Planets looked better than I remembered as did everything else. Did a few missions to pay off the carrier balance and for the first time I thought how polished the game was. Great performance in space and on foot and no crashes or problems whatsoever. Did a few missions, mistakenly accrued a c500k county and landed at a station in my ship and logged off.

Then another month later 14.02 drops and once again my carrier balance drops and I log in to pay it off. What's this why am I on foot in a station? No idea. But my ship is light years away at a detention centre, I am not at the detention centre and my notoriety is at 2 with a c500k bounty I can't pay off. I can't transfer my ship despite everything indicating I can. It just allows me to select the option but doesn't take the money. Try to shuttle somewhere else to try and transfer and several crashes later I get to another station. Still can't transfer my ship so transfer a few from my carrier. Neither of which I can seeming use as they apparently have cargo? So I do a few foot missions to get my notoriety down so I can pay off my bounty. Still can't board the ships I transferred and still can't transfer what was my active ship from the detention centre that I was never at. Logged out and back in via Horizons. Option to move to a safe port as my on foot station location was incompatible and I am back in my ship at the detention centre. What a palaver.

So I tool around trying to earn credits to pay off my carrier debt and during a pirate fight a system enforcement vessel flies in from the side and crashes into me. Hey, no problem 200cr fine. So I don't return fire and jump out to dock at the nearest station. All fine so far but I get no option to pay off the fine. I leave my ship and no on-foot lift action but get dropped straight on the concourse which seemed odd. Can't board my ship as it has been detained and I need to pay my fine. Go to pay my fine and I can't, I have to hand myself in which I do. Go to get my ship and it is impounded. Now I need to pay nearly 35 million to release my ship for a 200cr fine that I paid? what?

How without my ship and many hours of my life can I now earn 35 million to release my ship for the 200cr fine that I paid? Seems such a joke and to get here it has crashed 1-2 times per hour. I do wonder what the point is of carrying on as life is just to short and this is just no fun anymore. Yet prior to 14.02 after logging in for the first time in months I had the totally opposite opinion.

I took me days to get my notoriety from 2 to 0 so that I could pay my fine and still had to login to Horizons to get my ship back or to board any ship for that matter. Now for a 200cr fine I had to hand myself in only to get my ship seized, be unable to board another ship and have a 35 million fine that I need to payoff with rubbish 60-90k foot missions, really????

It took 4 hours for me to drop notoriety from 10 to 8... Which is about what it would take to go from 2 to zero - days seems to be odd...

I think that the point was perhaps not well articulated. I have no issues with notoriety in the sense of how long it takes. I played for 2+ hours and it dropped by 1. Left if running for 24 hours and it didn't change. Played for another 2 odd hours and back to zero.

The issue is with not being able to board my ships and not being able to transfer my ships whilst having only 2 notoriety. Plus not being able to pau off fines and even when having a notoriety of 0 and a 200cr fine being hit with a 35m impound fee after paying the fine off.

The real problem however is not just these odd mechanics which didn't used to exist it is all the other things that 14.02 seems to have brought. 1-2 crashes per hour when there were none, Apex shuttles that seemingly fly too close and have to drop, land on foot and every so often you have a few e-breaches in your inventory that weren't there before, all my bindings suddenly gone, kill warrant scanners that when enabled take 20% of power and many other weird things that weren't there before.

Just seems to have turned into a buggy mess and law and order is the most obvious thing at the moment.

Docked somewhere for 24 hours? That doesn't count.

I've done pad sitting for 4 hours and it reduced the notoriety from 2 to 0. So that does count.
I wasn't even focused on the game. Working from home does have its benefits. :D

It does? Last I heard it didn't. Oh well what would I know, total notoriety gained in 7 years playing....0

Total notoriety gained in 2 hours of play yesterday 2... (system Security were being a bit shy - and a few times where ATF were arriving in 10 seconds!)
Back up to 10 again... I'll go straight, guv, honest... Just not today!

So I had to log in via Horizons which moved me safely onto my own ship. Paid off all bounties, fines, fees and whatnot. No problems or so I thought.

Tooled around for a day or so on an off. No bounties or fees and swapped into another ship for a few hours. Just tried to swap back and nope, damn thing is impounded with another ridiculous fee. Yet everything was paid off over a day ago.

What on Earth is going on????

Noticed a load of other non law and order bugs as well. Update 14 seemed fine until .02 came out. Sigh....

Can't transfer the ship anywhere else either. Everything indicates it can and when I select transfer it just dumps me back to the main menu without any messages or warnings at all.

Your ship is impounded. Logging into Horizons to get around it won't solve the problem; it'll just get locked down again when you try to reboard it, as you've discovered. You have to pay the impound fee.

This has nothing to do with 14.02, you're just making a mess of things by trying to avoid paying that fee.

Just pay the fee... Or are you insisting that you have already paid to have the impound lifted? If so, it will have to be a request to support.

New ones? Would you give a few examples, I'll attempt to reproduce them.

Just pay the fine 🤷‍♂️
If you managed to get 5 Billion together for a FC surely you can figure out how to get that amount of credits to pay off your murder spree?
If you have odyssey you don't need a ship, get a shuttle to a system in conflict and do on foot missions.
Not teaching grandma to suck eggs but even if you keep two cheap ships on your carrier, 1 for mining (easy money) and anything you like with a DSS you can honk and scan 2 or 3 systems for well over 500K.

Even with a fully fitted FC out in the black i always return to the bubble with far more credits than i left with, disco and exo pay really well now.
Not sure if you did the Robigo mines runs before you took a break but if you don't mind a grind, build a passenger python, spend a few nights up there and never have to worry about carrier upkeep again.

Maybe they begged the 5 billion from other players? It isn't unheard of in this forum... Even e-begging was a thing once...

After a murder spree I had a similar experience recently. I died and went to prison, tried to board my ship wich it didn't allow so I took an apex. At the station I found out that my ship was still at the detention facility. Tried to get it transported to the station which appeared to work but didn't. I solved this by exiting to main menu and then using the new Help->Stuck Recovery option, this got me back into my ship in orbit around the prison ship. A bit later I noticed that I could disembark on a planetary surface but no longer get back into my ship (though it worked in space ports). The solution to this was to change ship and then change back which told me that the ship carried bounties and allowed me to pay them off.
