what power plant do you use in your Asp ?

How long before ass joke is mentioned?

I just bought an Asp from using a Type6, mainly for a bit of a change as I have read up on the differences and it pretty much comes down to taste between the two.

I am looking at some power plants now and where I am at, they only have class3 and lower but does anyone use class A3(or even A2?) and have no issues with power distribution? I know of the ship parts tool but somethings need to be tested during flight such as power maintenance or by asking fellow CMDR's. :)

I do have enough credits saved up for everything including insurance and the FSD but I need to go somewhere else to find this also but I have an Idea where to look. Any other helpful comments about what to use on me Asp would be appreciated also...

I'll be using for Trading/Exploration, BTW...

A 5D will last you well while you build up the rest of the ship. If you don't have a lot of lasers then the A3 should last you until you get it. The A3 isn't cheap though.

Don't go down in class - keep the maximum class. Go to a different station with better equipment to get a better one.

If you want max jump range for exploration you can easily drop down to a much smaller/lighter power plant. Check out CMDR Nutter's excellent video on setting up the perfect explorer Asp - my trading Asp wasn't much different and had a tiny power plant - never overheated. Bear in mind this is for a minimal-to-none weapons setup. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Ooh wee... this was a bit more expensive than I thought but still had enough to cover and only need a couple more tweaks. Thank you all :)

Just got my Asp last weekend to replace my T6, maxed out the cargo, power distributor, and thrusters, and did not need any more power than what the original power plant provided.

At this time, I'm only doing trade runs in the Asp, so don't need any more power yet. :)

when I got my ASP I could barely afford it. I increased the cargo capacity to 108 and gave it D reactor with a C FSD. I "D" ed as many systems as I could afford and ran off to trade.
It all depends on what your using the ASP for. As a trader you can use either a C or a D and be fine, as an explorer it is highly recommended you use a D, as a fighter... A is preferred

I use an A2, which together with a few other tweaks gives me 35ly jump range. I was previously getting ~33ly. It doesn't sound much, but on a 50,000ly trip it could reduce the number of jumps by about 90. Also makes it possible to explore more of the outer edge of the galaxy.

Depends what you want to use it for. No good for fighting, my strategy is to run.... I can still manage to boost enough to get away, nursing my ship back to civilisation after those lonely trips, carrying all my data.

Have fun.

I just bought my Asp yesterday, as I use a fuel scoop I can only find space for 88 tons, is this the maximum with shields and a scoop?

As for the power plant, I'm searching for the military grade power plants, now where are they?

This is going off memory so there may be discrepancies. I dock at a high tech station so most of the gear I use is there.

Trade configuration
Size 6 Compartment: Size 6 Cargo rack (64)
Size 5 Compartment: Size 5 Cargo Rack (32)
Size 3 Compartments: Size 3 shield
Size 3 Compartments: Size 3 Fuel Scoop
Size 3 Compartments: Size 3 Cargo Rack (8)
Size 2 Compartments: Size 2 Cargo Rack (4)
Size 2 Compartments: Discovery Scanner

Total Cargo 108 and I both a fuel scoop and shields. Unfortunately the shields are paper thin but some shields are better than no shields.
When I go to combat I trade out the size 6 cargo rack for a Size 6 shield. There is more I do but that is the quick list.
