What Quarterly Q.o.L. Maintenance Updates would you like to see ?

Regular updates

In addition to the weekly and monthly activity happening in Elite, we will also be releasing a series of updates roughly every 3-4 months. The first two of these updates will primarily focus on new player and welcoming experiences, and we will also be introducing a number of quality of life improvements for the entire player base, of which we will have more news on in the coming weeks. This will help ensure that new players are able to better progress through the game, and therefore help bring more players through to our very awesome, very welcoming community. We will also have additional game tweaks, benefits and bug fixes for all players. In the subsequent updates we will be focusing on bringing in new features, perks and content, including a range of exciting new additions to the game that will build up to this new era.

It is important to note that these updates will not take the same level of content or size that we have seen from our previous updates in Beyond or Horizons, as the majority of the development team will be focusing on the new era.

Based on the comment by will above what quarterly Q.o.L. update would you most like to see implemented during the coming maintenance cycle. ?


My pet favourite would be a review of NPC Crew loss - could there be a mechanism to recover a favoured NPC Crew member when one loses ones ship ?

I would like more of connection between our actions, NPC actions and Galnet, for instance if galnet has a story of a missing person there should be away for us the play to go looking for this missing person and scan there ship for a small reward for the information.

though if FDev actually do this, I would literally be shocked lol

- NPC communication system
- Cockpit cats
- NPC crew and wings
- Tweaks to C&P
- Limpet controller
- Rebalancing AX and normal weapons
- New ships
- Did I mention Cockpit Cats yet?
- Improvements to planetary terrain generation
- Carriers
- Mission Packs (the stuff hinted in the beta files)
- More scenarios
- Improvements to scenarios (getting informed via inbox about incoming attacks)
- CZs around POIs (stations, above surfaces, megaships, installations)
- Maybe... I don't know... Cockpit cats?

For some reason I get the distinct impression 'Cockpit Cats' would be the one you would most prefer to get.

Add toggleable rules for Private Group owners to set as they choose, e.g.:

For PvP:
  • Enable mass-lock delay on hyper-jumps if due to player ship? [yes/no]
  • Increase menu exit delay if "in danger" determination includes player attack? [yes/no]
  • Disable menu exit option if "in danger" determination includes player attack? [yes/no]
  • Lost connection while "in danger" due to player attack results in destruction / rebuy? [yes/no]
  • Disable all healing experimental effects? [yes/no]
  • Disable premium ammunition? [yes/no]
  • Disable Shield Cell Boosters? [yes/no]

For PvE:
  • Disable player / player interdiction? [yes/no]
  • Disable player / player wake following? [yes/no]
  • Disable player / player wake dropping? [yes/no]
  • Kick player on attacking another player and move attacking player to a Solo instance? [yes/no]
  • Kick player on destroying another player and move attacking player to a Solo instance? [yes/no]
  • Remove menu exit delay if "in danger" flag was only set due to player attack? [yes/no]

For all play-styles:
  • Move player to another instance after a period of inactivity on a landing pad.

-The ability to sort and maybe color code bookmarks (maybe even put them in folders)
-Bug fixes in general
-HUD color adjustment in Options (I know about the graphics file modification and use it)
-Fix merc NPC's that are after you during a mission from jumping out when their hull is disappearing and then they immediately respawn with 100% hull and shield when you hit SC and the cycle repeats
-Remove the blue Discovered messages from the HUD (already on the info bar)

Some QoL improvements I'd like to see.

Allow SRVs to drop from and be picked up by ships(up to 50m above planet surface level)
Allow engineers to improve ships supercruise agility(roll and pitch)
Allow us to dim the lights in ship cockpit, it hard to see information on right control panel on the Imperial Cutter.
Holographic runway that extends out the docking port.
Three Mining SLFs - Minging laser + abrasion blaster, Sub-surface Displacement Missiles + abrasion blaster, Seismic Charge Launchers + abrasion blaster.
