What REALLY happened to Starship One?

After reading the Q&A on newsletter #78, this is what I found:

"Edith_The_Hutt
Dear David,
What really happened to Starship One?

There was a catastrophic explosion and misjump.

What caused it is another matter..."

Sounds awfully suspicious!

There is several possibilities and to name a few, the Shadows got them or they were assimilated by the Borg or assimilated Thargoids in collaboration with the Shadows got them.

I would love to have confidence that the ship (or shipwreck) is somewhere within the search zone, floating rudderless in deep space, waiting for a player to find it, but FDev doesn't seem to craft special encounters like that - the galnet stuff etc only ever results in generic content. So the missing ship seems like just a story occurance awaiting merely a story resolution, unconnected to anything in space. So I've been mostly ignoring the whole thing.
The hunt for an unknown artefact was a lot of fun, it would be nice if that kind of gameplay was genuinely supported :-/

I have a feeling there is something out there that we can and are suppose to find.

There is definitely things hidden in the galaxy we havent found yet.

Not that I've been following the treasure hunt that closely, but I was under the impression it wasn't over yet?

Didn't something change about the artifact's behaviour recently, anyway? Around the same time something else significant happened? Has that angle been explored yet?

The INRA did it in collusion with Hudson.

In a few months they will blame the peaceful Thargoids and start another war...
