What REALLY makes me f.....laming angry (polite title!!!)

I thought I'd love to play one of my ''old'' games (NOT that old)... so I installed Mass Effect 2..... played for 2 days and came to one section of DLC (I have all the DLC's this being Kasumi's Loyalty Mission) and Bang! Crash! Black screen with background sounds only... having got to the end of the mission and on trying to load the summary cut scene my uber powerful PC Locked Solid.... three fingered Vulcan Death Grip needed to reboot PC.... Noooowwww what I'm so incensed by is the fact that EA, Bioware and Origin have SHUT DOWN all the web sites that supported or even mentioned patches or work-a-rounds for Mass Effect 2 (and all the others apart from Andromeda! They're not that old surely?)...... Crash reports are all over the web and date from over three years ago with ABSOLUTELY no response from the publishers/developers. So they have yanked the plug on these old games ME1, ME2, ME3 etc etc (and I have literally dozens of games and sim's stacked up in their DVD cases all now tried...most refusing to work with leading edge PC ...or... Windows 10 64 bit... which ever.)

Oh yeah... EA are pushing their latest pile of :poop: in the Mass Effect series, but support for past PAID FOR products... not a bit of it!!!! 😡🤬 .... another example... Bought all the Microsoft Ages of Empire series of old.... now they will only run with RED grass..... no green grass looks bloody silly...no remedy forthcoming .... Microsoft's support advice...go to STEAM and download the remastered series....Ker--Ching! another £25 for the pleasure (wifey still likes playing them, so it's non-negotiable) ... so I throw all the Microsoft Ages of Empire DVD's in the damned bin... what a rip-off.

Final thought for the day.... We moan at FDev but five years on they are still ''actively'' supporting and improving their product... bloody good on 'em.... may it last and NOT go the way of those scumbags EA, Bioware, Origin et al. etc.....

...sheeeesh!!!!!! 😤 o7

I have to say that the fact that you have a "leading edge" PC does not necessarily improve your experience with older games. In fact you might have less problems playing ME2 on an 8 or 9 year old PC with old drivers etc.
I have not tried the ME versions in my online UBI account for a while now. I am now curious whether they still work. They still sell them online after all. I expect them to be functional.

Also:
I have bought Masseffect 2 two times. Once in collectors box and once online, but I can only play it without problems if I use a cracked, pre-installed version I downloaded from somewhere. And this is not the only time when pirated versions perform better than the versions I paid for.

Yeah, ask Mac players of ED about that support. :sneaky:
Yeah well FDev AFAIK tried their hardest but were knocked off course by Apple Corp's blinkered policy of Apple-Only hardware that did not support ED's expectation of ''industry standard'' graphics support.... could be wrong as not a ''techie'', but I really do feel for Mac Users... despite me being a confirmed card carrying ''Apple Inc. hater''. o7

OH Soooooo true!!!! Last bit really does sum up the situation of ''legacy'' support from some developers/publishers..... makes my blood boil. I will point out that it is not just the fact that an older spec PC is needed to play ''legacy'' games (how I hate that term.... a game that worked a couple of years ago still should.. surely)... but also as in ME 2 it is required right at the start of the game to log onto ''The Cerberus Network'' but you hit that and guess what ''This website has been closed and is no longer available..... in 5 seconds you will be redirected to .... NOTHING''... the Dev's have just shut down ANY and ALL web support/interaction/content/value-for-money-additions-only-available-online (of old)...... One link inside the ME 2 game sends you off and out, not to a site/asset for ME 2 but for all the latest shiny EA games that have absolutely nothing to do with the game you are trying to play...... Another link redirects you to the ''Bioware Social Media site''.....WHAT?

P.S. I have dumped the original AOE DVD's (£60+) and went onto Steam and bought the re-made Microsoft Ages Of Empire games (£24.99) for my wife for Xmas, and am really looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 (which being a new release .... should run on my ''new'' PC)...... having said that; I refuse to spend another penny with ANY and ALL games studios that have left me with unsupported, unplayable, past releases that have garnered my hard earned cash, only to be left gathering dust or consigned to the bottom of a land-fill !!!!! o7 and a Happy New Year to all .... except the offending games/software thieves developers/publishers.
