What RightWhale would do if I had a full year at Frontier

As the title says I have decided that I wanted to show what I would do if I had control of Frontier for a full year. I decided to keep this off the speculation thread for two large reasons:
  1. This gives me the freedom to do whatever I want, without weighing down the speculation with more random dlc ideas.
  2. This frees me from having to abide too much to the meta wishlist
While I am always open to interpretation and criticism of my dlc ideas, I don’t want this thread to become full of other people’s ideas. So let’s try to keep the focus.

Likewise, I would like to stir some conversation as I think we have all become too reliant on the speculation thread to do so. I originally planned for this to be in the “General discussion” part of the forum, but it makes way more sense to post it here in “Wishlists”

My first dlc of the year would be akin to an Oceania or Eurasia, I wanted to do an Americas pack. Frankly I do think it’s worth revisiting the continents, but my main focus would be on Latin America down to Patagonia.

Americas Pack
  1. Wood Duck
  2. American Black Bear
  3. White nosed coati
  4. Black howler monkey
  5. American flamingo
  6. Greater rhea
  7. Patagonian mara
  8. Exhibit animal: cane toad
The headliner of the pack would be the howler monkey, which I imagine would come to no surprise. I wanted to give temperate North America a bird, and our first duck. Also after further consideration, I do think the ABB is appropriate. Likewise I imagine the flamingo and rhea are easy clones, while fleshing out the bird representation in the roster. I chose the cane toad to be our first exhibit toad, both due to being common in Central America, and being a good representation of invasive species.

For the free update I would add one new feature: the animal walk! You can now set up two points in your zoo, that once a week the keepers will let your animals walk around on the set path! This feature will work for all of the following animals:
  • American flamingo
  • Greater flamingo
  • King penguin
  • African penguin
  • Galapagos tortoise
  • Aldabra tortoise
  • Llama
  • Alpaca
  • Fallow deer
  • Wallaby

On to my next dlc it would be a scenery pack, and it would be the Coastal DLC! I tried to have as many species as possible from around the world, with actually a vast majority of the animals being exhibit animals in this pack. This pack would introduce a new type of exhibit: the rounded tank. Which would be able to hold aquatic animals.

Coastal Pack
  1. Walrus
  2. Atlantic Puffin
  3. Great White Pelican
  4. Exhibit animals:
  • Atlantic lobster
  • Epaulette shark
  • Lionfish
  • Clownfish
  • Weedy seadragon

With admittedly a hectic selection of animals, the main focus of the pack would be the new exhibit animals. The lobster is unique in that they must be housed by themselves, otherwise every other exhibit animal will function as normal. Initially I wanted an equal selection of sea animals from around the world, but I decided on what I would find the easiest to care for/ fairly common or popular. Australia/ Oceania would get the biggest boost out of this pack, as the clownfish, seadragon, and shark can be found there. Due to the high number of exhibit animals, I decided to cut back on the habitat animals. To make up for this I wanted to have some very popular choices, with the walrus and pelican being long requested. The puffin is the “oddball choice” and would probably require a bit of work compared to the other two.

Being a scenery pack, most of the scenery would be in the form of props. Faux rocks with barnacles, fake kelp, fake crabs and urchins and sea stars. Think of the new scenery in PC2, just maybe a bit less “fake” looking. Despite being a scenery pack, its main focus is on the new exhibit type which introduces aquatic animals into the game. Consider the Aquatic pack also had similar scenery I don’t think we need a ton more.

For the free update everyone would get the new tank, though like the WTE it’s just so you don’t have to get it more than once (spoilers for later). For the actual free update there is now a new tab to click on: Conservation. You can now pledge a certain percent of profits to an organization of your choice! For each tier of pledging you can get items to raise awareness to your cause. This can include various signs each highlighting a certain plight. Here are some examples:
  • Saving wild gorillas in the congo
  • Saving elephants and rhinos from poachers
  • Restoring sections of coral reefs
  • Restoring rainforests
Downside is you would obviously loose a set amount of money, the benefits being a boost to conservation and getting some brand new signs for your zoos. On sandbox mode all the signs are available if you choose so.

I will throw one bone to temperate North America, but otherwise that’s not the focus at all.

I dont like this pack for one simple reason:
It makes bad use of its premise.

I dislike packidears in general that go broad theme but then hyper focus on something else.
Dont call it americas when its south america + scraps.
A much better way to do this would be by shifting the animals around a bit with a focus on animals that live in both continents and 2 each that are exklusive, which works rather well.

For the central american reps, ocelot, white nosed coati and roseate spoonbill are a must, covering multiple biomes in both continents.

For north america, add the Abb as a general animal and something distinctky north american like the porcupine or muskox.

For sourh america choose a monkey and the rhea or mara and voila, a pack that actually delivers on its theme to represent ALL of the americas

Yeah that’s a good point, I will say I do have a pack coming up with the roseate spoonbill and ocelot in it. Which is why they aren’t in here to begin with. But honestly, I agree. Maybe swapping the spectacled bear for the ABB wouldn’t be a bad idea, I’m personally in the camp where I don’t care about one over the other.

@KönigDerKaffeebohnen honestly I think you are right and I decided to make the change. Which honestly I’m not upset about, as both animals would be perfect for me to make a zoo for native wildlife in my home state!

On a real planet zoo note aside, not having the ABB isn’t what is preventing me from making a local zoo. It’s the lack of a bird. So maybe in the real dlc I could get a duck or something.

So this next one is probably the, strangest, of all the packs so far. If I thought coastal had a hectic selection of animals, this next pack is even more strange. This is probably the biggest “this pack is made for me” type of energy, and no, despite it all it isn’t even a full bird pack. In fact this pack only has one bird, that admittedly I can’t 100% decide what I want. Either way, this is the:

Education Pack
This is a scenery pack, and I’m actually gonna explain how each animal folds into the theme around education.
  • The first step in education is all about conservation, which the Peere David’s deer is a great representation of! Not only will you learn about education, but you also get to learn about adaptations! As the Peere David’s deer is very well adapted to the swampy environments it calls home.
  • Following that, we will learn about island wildlife. Namely how islands allow animals to adapt to specific niches. So with that being said, we will get the beautiful Victoria crowned pigeon. I’ll admit, I had a hard time choosing. The nene, Guam rail, kagu, and maleo were all perfect birds for this role. So it wouldn’t take much to twist my arm any which way.
  • Now we go to Oceania, where we will learn about the most unique type of monotreme. That’s right, I think the education pack would be perfect for the echidna! I wanted this pack to be full of a bunch of weirdos (said lovingly) and I can really get behind the echidna in this type of scenario!
  • The final stop is learning about animal socialization. Humans aren’t the only ones who have complex social groups, so I think we could use an animal that fits that description. The hamadryas baboon has a very complex social structure, and their activity in zoos is super fun to watch.
  • Finally, the exhibit animal. Once again the rounded tank makes an appearance, and to tie into education we will once again learn about isolation and how it leads to unique species. African cichlids are perfect for this task, and are also super fun to watch!
So of all my packs this has the lowest amount of animals, which shouldn’t be surprising. Especially as this pack will contain a ton of props!
  • Antlers will be placeable objects, with all 5 deer species now having placeable antlers. This includes the reindeer, moose, red elk, fallow deer, and the new Peere David’s deer.
  • Likewise, horns are placeable. This includes the rhinos and many of the antelope species.
  • Skulls are also going to be a new item, and we will get a couple! Tigers, lions, and cheetahs are all gonna get a skull item. Bears and crocodiles will also get some placeable skulls. Finally, expect a skull from the elephants!
  • Paws and pelts will also be some of the props coming to the game. Such as a giant bear paw, and looking at all the furs of the animals in game.
  • Likewise we will get some wings, which will feature every bird species up to this point.
  • Finally (as of now unless I think more) we will get some not-animal educational parts. This can include flamingo mounds, gorilla nests, beaver huts, and more!
If you have seen my Education and museum thread, then you will get the gist of it. Now the free update ties into the theme a bit more! We will get new intractable educational pieces in the style of the education stations! See if you can jump as far as a kangaroo, or hold your breath as long as a penguin, crocodile, or bear. See how long your arms are to the wings of birds, or see if you are as fast as a cheetah. Adding on some of these to the existing education stations can help make a very cute and realistic kids area.

Before we get to the final dlc, I wanted to show the anniversary animal! It might be basic, but I think the nile crocodile would be a good choice for a free animal. We need an African crocodile in game, and it would give base game a better looking croc (sorry saltie). Not to mention, with the Nile crocodile in base game you could also add it to a Madagascar area too. I know many wanted something like the slender shouted crocodile, but I think the basic Nile crocodile would be nice for a free animal.

Now on to the final dlc! I want to make a dlc that appeals to one specific area, a place which is commonly seen in zoos. It’s also biodiverse enough that I think it’s warranted to get its own dlc slot. Also, with all the recent fires and droughts it’s worth celebrating and saving it. I am talking about the Amazon Rainforest! I think for another full year of dlc it would be great to revisit South America again. Bringing it into the blue/ green in terms of representation.

The Amazon Pack
  • White faced saki
  • Squirrel monkey
  • Roseate spoonbill
  • White faced whistling duck
  • Red rumped agouti
  • Ocelot
  • Arrau river turtle
  • Exhibit animal: the rounded tank makes an appearance again with the red belly piranha and angelfish.
For the free update I wanted to do something a bit smaller, your zoo now has a “newsletter”. New animal births, new habitats, and new buildings. Likewise combined with the conservation free update your newsletter will also keep track of that. For your friends on steam, Xbox, or PlayStation they can see your zoo’s newsletter! The newsletter will be available in all modes, though in sandbox it can be turned off.

So with all that said and done, it’s time for a breakdown of what I would do for a year!
  • Added 12 mammals, which includes 1 ungulate, 4 primates, 2 rodents, 1 monotreme, and 4 for Carnivora.
  • Added two reptiles, being 1 turtle and 1 crocodile
  • Added 8 birds, 1 flamingo, 1 spoonbill, 1 dove, 1 ratite, 1 auk, 1 pelican, and 2 waterfowl.
  • Added 1 amphibian
  • Added 1 crustacean
  • Added 3 freshwater fish species
  • Added 4 saltwater fish species
Added the conservation tab, newsletter, new education stations, and animal walks in the free update!

By continent:
  • North America gains around 12 species (Most of it for Central/ Latin America)
  • South America gains around 15 species
  • Europe gains 3 species
  • Asia gains 3 species
  • Africa gains around 3 species
  • Oceania gains 5 species

Develop Planet Zoo 2 with new pathing, roads, aquarium and aviaries. Think of a way to port all the PZ DLCs into PZ2 maybe for a fee of $5 each? Honestly, how many 5 years customers can wait? Or maybe a launch we can charges Teleportation Deluxe for $50 to port all DLCs into PZ2.

Folks this is extremely important I don't have all these time to wait or possibility whatever we have now will not show up. So if the portable option for a price, why not? Both Frontier and fans get what they want.
