Ships What ship building tool is more accurate?

So I'm meddling arround on coriolis and I think I have this build all sorted and the shields are great. I then do the exact same build on edsy and the stats are completely different and what I thought was great is infact went the opposite direction I was intending.

From what I've asked others, it appears edsy is more accurate, just want to have others confirm if this is the case?

I have on many, many occasions made a build on Coriolis then recreated it in game and had the shield and hull values, as well as resists, be exactly the same.

I have also, on many, many occasions clicked on a link to an edsy build, had no clue what any of it meant, had absolutely no desire at all to try to figure out how to use it, and immediately closed it.

Back to Coriolis, not long ago I was making a bug hunter and I noticed their medium Guass was showing way more damage than they actually do, and it is also completely missing the advanced missile rack.

Exactly this!

Coriolis isn't perfect, it doesn't apply all weapon effects to stats either. It also has some effects that don't exist in game. But overall, it's almost spot on when comparing builds. Just remember to export your builds before clearing cookies or you lose your saves.

I prefer EDSY. They way it lays out information is very clean. I suspect people who are used to Coriolis will struggle with it, but I've used both and generally prefer EDSY. I don't know of any inaccuracies with it, myself, but I'd like to know them if they exist.

I do find Coriolis a little easier to use on a smartphone, but generally EDSY is my choice.

I use both, the values for shield/armour/jump range etc. are equal. I believe, there were some differences in regards of draining the power distributor. EDSY "forgets" the pip settings every time - I've no account, just keep the page open. Coriolis holds those settings. Otherwise EDSY gives me the information about the heat levels - something I miss on Coriolis. Last but not least: Coriolis seem to forget the effect "focuced wepon" at least on burst laser turrets.

All in all: the both calculators give you some information, but its only a pre-feeling of what will come in a real fight. Are 5 seconds till overheat too short, if you are firing 5 lasers, a huge MC and two packhound racks simultaneously? Or are they enough, because then the opponent has already passed you and you cant use any of the weapons, while turning around and closing the distance again?

The creator of the site acknowledges that some of the calcs are off atm but I wouldn't have thought it'd be too far off or wrong for something as basic as shield values.

Only thing I want from ship building tool is to tell me basic numbers. Things like special effects and handling characteristics can only be properly tested in practice anyway. Coriolis does the job just fine. And it has by far the most intuitive UI.

Edsy shows me what engineering modules have at a glance. Coriolis on mobile I have to click the icon and its next to impossible for me. I also feel Edsy shows all info compact on a single screen with no scrolling unlike Coriolis.

Edsy for me.

However as of OP's question if I also learn one has accurate info and the other doesnt I would switch.

When i started, at the end of 2018, i tried both Coriolis and EDSY
I found Coriolis really intuitive and easy to use. Yes, for missile doesn't differentiate the experimentals between dumbfires and seekers and there are some other minor glitches with experimentals, but all in all - i find it rather easy to build a ship and engineer it in Coriolis.

EDSY, not so much. When i fired it for the first time, i didnt even knew where to start. And looking at a build in EDSY is like looking like a wall of text
Eventually, after much fiddling and digging i will be able to see what that build is about... most of the time and for most of the part of the build.

The only inconsistency I've found is in dps for rail guns. EDSY shows a rate of fire of 0.6 shots per second, while Coriolis shows 1.6 and (therefore) almost triple the DPS shown on EDSY. It's a simple typo, but it makes quite a difference.
