What sort of monitor/TV do you play Planet Coaster on?

Hi everyone. What sort of display, monitor, or TV, do you play this game on?

I just got a Sony KD43X8000E 4K HDR HDTV today had it delivered and installed (on a table, not wall). Authorized retailers in NZ are having a big 20-30% off sale on TV's this week. Sony NZ sells the TV for RRP$1699 + NZ$129 delivery and installation. I only paid NZ$1258 for it and that included delivery and installation. So saved over $500.

I chose this as I wanted to upgrade from my Sony KDL40EX720 which I got late 2011. So my new TV will keep me entertained for the next 6 years. I'll just use it to watch YouTube, Netflix, and play games from PC, Xbox 360 slim console, and Xbox One X.

I have Forza, Halo (hardly play it now), Minecraft, The Sims 4 (PC), Planet Coaster (PC), Cities Skylines (rarely play now). Plan on getting Jurassic World from Frontier when it releases later this year.

As for my TV, it has some neat features which my old TV doesn't have:
- X-Reality PRO processor (don't know if it's a single, dual or quad core processor, Sony doesn't tell us).
- HDR & 4k
- Triluminos advanced live colour tech
- Android 7.0 (Nougat?) on 16GB fast flash on board memory

I didn't want to pay too much for a TV. And didn't want to get a separate monitor for gaming.

The processor does a really good job at upscaling 720p and 1080p content. But it's weak with upscaling less than 720p content. Colours are incredible and natural. I chose it over Samsung, due to it's anti-glare display (won't reflect like a mirror in sunlight which my place gets plenty of), and Samsung has a big issue regarding security vulnerabilities with their Tizen OS. Just Google is Tizen Samsung secure? You'll get front page results implying it isn't. Where as Google updates their OS regularly. Google Now is a really good personal assistant too, better than Cortana which Microsoft doesn't have voice commands support for, in NZ. There is some judder in the picture but it's very minor. HDR10 isn't appropriate for it to be turned on High for streaming videos as it messes up the picture, so only have it on Auto. I find the Photo Vivid picture mode very good. Also need a 4k HDMI cable too for 4k content.

Some cons are the expensive price (I used some of my savings money but will recuperate the money back within the next 4 weeks since I can be good with saving sometimes)

It also only has a plastic stand, weighing less than a kg which easily scratches. And mere 16GB on board storage which I don't think is really enough for the system OS. It has 8.25GB left. I only plan on YouTube and Netflix on it, kind of bulky remote but it's ok. I should query with Sony NZ whether their 4k X-Reality PRO processor is a quad core processor or not. Samsung is upfront saying that their TV's have a quad core processor. My laptop has a dual core processor and desktop has a quad core processor, and it makes a world difference having a quad core processor or better. Also like to know the speed of it too, doesn't say it in the manual or their site.

As you may be able tell, I'm a little ecstatic about my new display. I was considering the Samsung 6100 43', but that tizen OS and it reflected like a mirror in any light in the shops, and since VA panels have shorter viewing angles than IPS. And the black levels are quite good too!.... once you've tinkered around with the settings. But then again my Samsung S8 has an OLED display. OLED TV's cost too much. Samsung and Sony are selling them in NZ for 5 grand, easy. Samsung and Tizen have not confirmed when they'll release a security patch to fix it's vulnerabilities, let alone if. Where as Google and Microsoft are known to release regular updates for their stuff.

I play with a triple monitor setup by Samsung. They are each 32 inch screens for a total of 96 inches. Model: Samsung - CF391 Series C32F391FWN 32" LED Curved FHD FreeSync Monitor. Very pleased with them. Here's a picture.

Play on a 144Hz, 1440p IPS monitor. Of course its a complete waste of time for planet coaster that's pushing ~15fps on a good day but for my FPS gaming dark side it's a pretty magical setup!

I just have a €60 Samsung Syncmaster 24 inch LCD. Nothing special.

Used to have 2 screens, but didn't really see any benefit from it.

I'm not hot for 4K, OLED and all other fancy things. What I mean is that I don't think I really need it as I'm just a casual gamer and just wait until prices reach a acceptable level for me.

It's the same reason why I have a car that is 20 years old. It still drives very well and doesn't really have big maintenance costs, as long as it drives I'm fine with it. the same goes for my screen.

Congratulations with all those monitors! :D

I use a Samsung SyncMaster S27A750D as primary monitor and a Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP as secondary monitor.

Mine is a very basic monitor. One that can easily handle most games, but only cost me £150 or somewhere in that region.

I am looking at upgrading my PC soon though, so this will no doubt be changed too. I'm aiming for a dual or triple monitor set up, made up of 29" - 32" displays (Haven't decided how big I want to go). But will use both (or three) for PC stuff, then will use on exclusively for the PS4 [big grin]
