What sort of performance can I expect from ED & Odyssey with my new PC?

Hi guys. I recently bought my first gaming PC & I can’t wait to play ED on it when it arrives next week. I’m completely new to PC gaming and despite trying to do as much research as I possibly could before buying my PC, I’m still not sure exactly what sort of performance to expect, particularly in Odyssey.

My PC has an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, an RTX 3070 Ti & 32 GB of RAM. Will I be able to run Odyssey? What kind of resolution & frame rate can I expect? Thanks in advance for any answers.

I play with 2080ti its ok at 4k
Some areas it drops a little to 50 fsp mainly at planet settlements at night only. In the main smooth solid 60fps using vsync to lock to monitor 60 hz range

As the 3070 and 3070ti are mid range and 3070 is a little less powerful than 2080ti, I expect you to get a little more than I do having the 3070ti model.

Not sure about your cpu, my i9 has 14 cores 28 threads and run ls about 8 to 14% utilised when playing.

I expect you to be ok and it should run ok. In space definitely in stations odyssey hits the gpu and likewise settlements when in the night. Must be the lights

Thanks for the fast reply. That sounds really promising. I also have a 4k, 60hz monitor so locked 60 with vsync would be wonderful for me at 4k. I’m not sure if my cpu is any good either to be honest. I find all this technical stuff to be very complicated. At least the gpu looks like it is good enough. Thanks again for your answer.

Hey guys, happy holidays🎅.

I actually paid close attention to the FPS('s) for a while today on my new (gift) machine "ASUS" ROG GU503QR" and...................................

*In space...115-140 avg. (depending on # of planets/ships around). Combat is generally at the lower end of the spectrum.

*On the ground:
-No settlement, just empty planet and me walking/running/shooting/puking/pi*sing etc.... 96-123 avg. (again)
-In settlement/stations, NPCs and equipment moving around... 81-103 avg. (ground combat about the same)

All settings pushed to "ULTRA":
*Refresh set to 165Hz, and resolution is at 2560x1440...RYZEN 9-5900HS CPU/NVIDEA RTX 3070 GPU/16GB RAM (I wanted to see what it could do) o_O

Screamin' is likely a misnomer to most gamers but not me. I rarely have access to new/updated computers (that I can keep/play with...I'm poor)🤔;)

Addendum:
Though it still looks cartoonish with all the bling that's cool. If I wanted something that resembled actual "REAL LOOKING" people and "other stuff" in my games...I'd hock a kidney or a lung and go buy a sh*t and git supercomputer somewhere and immerse myself in what would essentially be a movie with real-world limitations and all that...no fun:sleep:;)...for me anyway.

Sidenote:
...though it does radiate a fair amount of heat ...it still only averages around 81*c running "Cyberpunk" with RAYTRACING up...which really isn't too bad :p
