What Space truck to get after a Hauler?

Cobra MK III. With 1 million CR spare I bought a type 6 or something as a second ship, but found it useless. It's slow, launching takes ages, and I have more cargo space in my Cobra.

Make sure you equip your Cobra with intermediate scanner and surface scanner. It takes some cargo space but will make you tens of thousands by just traveling through systems. With good boosters and stuff you outrun every interdiction, so no shields or weapons needed.

I was playing open on release but got killed three times by players so now just solo
Stay away from crowded systems and hyperjump away when a player is approaching you. Got destroyed once for no reason, there are plenty of systems without other players.

For rare runs a T6 would be slow and clunky... Cobra is my choice. Cracking ship, you wont regret it. My T6 stays at home for local trading and my cobra does all the fun stuff

Cobra max cargo 60... L6 max is 112. It's a slug but you can amass credits a lot faster.

On second thought, I have to agree with Mikey here. If youre going to do rare trade runs, get the cobra. You can afford a better FSD right away, and its cargo hold is enough for rare goods. In the end, I don't think the profit margins will be too different between the two, but the cobra's faster docking speed might just make the difference.

Just remember the type six is narrow enough to fit through the airlock sideways--the cobra isn't!

Without cargo insurance, and with how expensive ship insurance can get when you get the big freighters, trading solo is really the only way to go.

I only play Open, unless I'm having serious connection issues.

The small risk of being blown out of the sky is the only thing that makes trading exciting enough for me to bother with.

That's ridiculous mate, your Cobra in no way carries more cargo, you can easily make 120,000c plus every 5 mins, full freighter config on the Type-6.

The guy's got 3 mill. He could buy a Type-6, spend the cash on Superconductors and have 8 mill by the end of the day. No wonder some people struggle if they are doing things like you.

The Cobra is an awesome ship, but it's a light freighter at best.

OP - Since you mentioned space truck, I am assuming you want to maximize your profits trading. Sheildess Type-6 will make you rich very quick, spend a day or two in the Lakon on a good route and you can buy and heavily kit out a Cobra.

If you want to go straight for the Cobra then consider rare trading. Here's a good route that will make you millions with low cargo space.. Just make sure you enjoy long haul flying ;)

I fly the above route for fun, I make around 1.5 million an hour in a Clipper, would make a lot more doing point to point trading in full cargo config, but this is a lot more fun, and great way to see the galaxy.

The Type 6 is a great ship for any activities except combat. Mine now has rate A FSD, rate A fuel scoop, adv. disco scanner, detailed surface scanner, small shields for protection against accidents, and 64 cargo. I recently got a field maintenance module just as a backup if I want to go for a longer exploration trip between doing mostly rare commodity trade runs. It replaced a 16 t cargo rack, but 64 t is still good enough for me for now. Oh, a heat sink launcher is also a "must" backup for the rare jump to a dangerous star.

What cargo capacity is that run on the clipper?

I also had about 3 mil when I moved from Cobra to Type 6 which is now earning money for refitting Cobra into the combat vessel. So if you have well established chain trading route, 100+ tons of cargo makes Type 6 a lot more capable truck.
