What the hell is DSS and why does it not work?

I can't move at all, I tried that multi-crew setting "fix" which didn't do anything, so unless I'm changing the wrong setting, which is likely since the fix is not clearly instructed anywhere that I can find. How the hell do I move the camera in DSS?

PS pretty pathetic that this is still an issue a year later.

You don't?
There is a button which shows you the "back" of the planet, but that's all
Everything else is done by the "angle" you fire the probes

And it helps to engineer the DSS too.
What? Yeah you do. You can aim the camera in any direction in a 360 sphere around the ship. Did you think the camera was locked in place?

So the OP's panning left-right and up-down is not working in the DSS?
Can we get a screenshot of your configuration for the DSS controls, and details on what input devices are being used?

I know that it isn't the game that is pathetic - DSS works great for me from day 1 - I can use mouse or joystick to aim:

I've never changed any settings related to DSS as far as I know, I don't even honestly know where they are. I say it's been a problem for a year because the only info or related cases I can find are from 10-12 months ago; Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/9ssu7b/psa_if_you_cant_turn_your_shipaim_while_launching/?utm_source=reddit-android

@Sunyavadin Correct I cannot change the angle of the probe once in DSS view, It's stuck where ever I activate it at, I can still launch probes but only from the position that I open DSS from, I was able to do what I needed by aiming my ship(before entering DSS) where i'd want to send a probe, activating DSS, firing the probe, exiting DSS, re-positioning to where I'd place the next probe, again and again until I got the info I needed.

Alright, show us a screenshot of your current DSS control settings and we can see if everything looks to be configured right.

If you came back to the game after not playing since more than a year ago, then the DSS was added around that time, and your control settings may still not have had pitch/yaw added for the DSS, since it always saves your existing control settings until you manually update them when a new control option is added.

If you're a newer player, odds are that there's a missing setting somewhere in which it's not recognising your chosen input device, so it should be an easy fix.
If you look at the images others have posted of their settings you'll see how they've configured the pitch/yaw to use stuff like joysticks, etc. Check that yours match that for your chosen input device.

Oh well... i mapped a ton of planets without moving the camera. And i'm quite good at it apparently 🙃
actually not a ton... all of them

guess i have to thank to op for this thread :)

I believe(the DHSS) they dropped the health part in linear time 88 because Britain was so sick it needed its own seperate dept
and I think it stopped working properly about 30 years linear time after because it gave all its money away to non indigenous aliens👽 via a UB40 or something similar, though quite what a 80's reggae band had to do with it escapes me
oh the periscope thingy I do apologise its early 5 deg downbubble and no krazy Ivans it reminds me of a game I use to play with a radio and a broken aerial whilst doing a tax audit, woops no that's the other one, the nuke the site from orbit mini game is quite fun were you have to the entire surface with as few nukes as possible its about that time I alt tab out an run a few frames of atari missile command, cant wait for the hypersonic version and you wont have too if they are ever used it seems lol
