What the hell is going on with Extraction zones?!?!

Seriously, I love a bit of "edge of my seat" combat, but the last two nights have been downright ridiculous & utterly un-fun. I headed into a High Intensity Extraction Zone for a spot of bounty hunting, found a pirate & decided to "have at him". However, even before I've weakened his shields, I find myself being set upon by around half a dozen other hostiles (NPC's). They're not his wing-mates, they just decide to "grief" me for no reason, even though there are plenty of other viable targets around, with actual cargo worth taking.....oh, & no sight of security coming to the rescue either I might add. In spite of hull reinforcement & a shield booster, I found myself quickly whittled down to 22% hull......before I hightailed it out of there. Has anyone else seen this change lately? Also, can any developers out there tell me if there has been a change &-if so-why?!?! I don't mind battling 2-4 ships if there is a good reason for them to be gunning for me, but to be ganged up on for no good reason just sucks all the fun out of the gaming experience.

Are you sure you didn't hit him before he was properly scanned and you became wanted?

Yea sounds like the stupid mechanic where you see security shooting a bad guy so you switch targets to help them and fire before the scan completes - now your branded as criminal scum and all the security will shoot to kill you.

Not a "stupid mechanic" at all.

The only thing stupid is the commander that can't leave and wait a few minutes until the bounty expires.

Since when did getting your butt whipped equal un-fun, especially considering the fact that you poked your nose in a hornet's nest (hi-intensity) in the first instance?

Lol, that's what happens when you look for trouble - you end up getting a hiding. You know what they say, if you cannot take the heat....... :D

Sounds like you are hostile to a faction in that system (they will start sending death wings after you)- thats when the fun really begins:)

I see why you would get a bounty, but it's absolutely stupid that you would instantly become a priority.

Frankly, if you can make an educated guess as to whether your target is wanted before the scan is finished, you shouldn't be penalized for being right. But then again I'm neutral, not lawful.

If you have something in storage ( even only drones ) pirates will scan and attack you for cargo. In high RES you can find yourself surrounded with 8 NPCs fireing at you in no time and all want your cargo.

The RESs near my "home" system have the opposite problem... They're very low on targets . BORING!

I'm way out of the bubble at the moment so I'm even more lonely now

This is one of the stated features of HIRES - little to no security.
