What the hell?! OP hatchbreaker limpets.

So I assume this probably because people who run the AFK builds, but for some reason now hatch breaker limpets seem to have a 100% chance to take your cargo. Every single time I loot up something I just get it stolen by ONE limpet. You've either made them indestructible / 100% success, or you've made point defenses entirely redundant. Either way, this sucks. I'm sick of being hindered constantly by "updates" that make the game less playable. So I guess it's just 15,000 x 300k Odyssey missions to get a fleet carrier. That or bore myself to tears running cargo missions or passenger missions. So sick of the developers having one method to make money because they can't balance the mission systems and make every aspect equal in terms of profit.

I noticed this as well last week when for the first time ever I lost a few crates of cargo three times in succession after being attacked by pirates. I got it all back in the aftermath of destroying them but had only ever had my hatch destroyed once before by a ganker wing a couple of years back in a much lesser ship than my present Corvette. It hasn't happened again since but I did think it strange at the time so maybe FD in their wisdom have changed some spec?.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't point defense meant to be to shoot down missiles, not hatch breakers? My suspicion it was a long standing bug that has now been "fixed". They fixed the magaship looting so I think they probably did this at the same time.

No, the PDT is also for use against limpets, torpedoes and mines, not just missiles.

ECM has long been a better limpet defense than PDTs. It takes quite a few hits to destroy a limpet, and often active manuvering to keep the limpet in the PDT cone of fire as long as possible. An ECM will destroy them, even if they are in the middle of hacking your cargo hatch.

Ok, I was under the wrong impression then. Probably because I've only used them against missiles.

includes:

An issue has been fixed whereby point defense turrents were failing to destroy hatch breaker limpets. (sic)

(F D obviously needs to get a new spell-checker. ;) )
