Engineers What the max FSD range that a krait can have ?

I wonder if i can convert a krait into an explorer vessel.

What is the max (customizable with engineers) range FSD for a krait ?

I am actually fitting my "old" 5A FSD (completed/modified by engs used on the ASP explorer) into the krait i bought

then i added the FSD guardian boost
so actually in total i have 40 light years of range.

Is this the max that i can achieve ?

Coriolis says if you completely strip it down, max out the FSD, add a guardian booster, and make everything else as light as possible, then jump with minimum necessary fuel ... 65.38 LY is the best you can get - https://s.orbis.zone/bpj

40 is pretty decent for being able to actually do stuff when you get there, though!

You should be able to get over 50ly with a fairly lightweight build without too much difficulty if you use a FSD Guardian booster, and make an effort to choose lightweight modules (w/lightweight engineering) where applicable (eg D-class Engines, Life Support, Sensors, etc).

As Ian pointed out, about 65ly is the maximum with a bare bones stripped setup, or subtract ~2ly for a minimal exploration fit:

Heavy combat Kraits can be under 25ly if you don't use FSD boosters, so as with any ship, the overall weight has a huge impact on FSD range.

You can get another .01 by changing the PP to OC G1/stripped down and a smaller fuel tank!!!

Yeah, it's one of the quirks of how I build my ships (even full combat builds); I can't stand the thought of increasing heat output by using the overcharged power plant mod, so I end up taking the hit to jump range instead... :)

As a recommendation to the OP:
With the current engineering system, you can find fairly common templates for building an exploration ship for maximizing the range, but I think it's far more fun to try and sacrifice a few light years here and there to make a bit more of an interesting build. For example Bob's build (posted above) is much faster then the minimal exploration krait build I posted above (Not just the speed, but the higher spec distributor means that you can maintain that top speed longer by boosting more often), is far more durable (471MJ of shield vs 115MJ), has a spare SRV vehicle if you lose one while out exploring, and has the ability to equip 2 different types of fighters, all while being able to jump over 50ly.

Took this build https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/kra...cAgAA.EweloBhBmSQUwIYHMA28QgIwV0A=&bn=Krait X to Colonia in my other account.

It's capable of HiRES combat but HazRES can be a bit to much for the defensive systems unless you're careful, more importantly it's a great looking ship with superb cockpit visuals and capable of landing just about anywhere.

Took this image about half way to Colonia
