What these UI controls do?

Hello Commanders,

I have spot recently a few buttons/options that presumably have been added with Odyssey UI changes but seems not doing anything specific.

1. Galaxy map, "Show dry dock markers" option. If I select it, I do not see any additional markers on the galaxy map.

2. Buttons located in crew "View more" panel. If I click any of them, they bring me to the Codex main window.

I wonder if anybody knows their purpose...

According to some people this is the fun part of gameplay in ED - to try and guess what these things do, to ask around forums, to search the internet and all the 3rd party tools for answers.
Unfortunately EDO lacks basic information about the game in general and about things that were changed in comparison with Horizons.

At this point you're not even trying to answer his questions. The fun part definitely isn't seeing you moping about in every other thread.

Yes, I have reached the level of other "helpful" people here who keep posting condescending posts for anyone who is asking for help. I am now a pro user of these forums.

Grow up. Commander Scaletho is a special case, he's one of the few I refuse to help.

I don't know what Scaletho has to do with anything but OK.

I was just making a sarcastic joke about no help in ED. Why? Because I was told several times here on the forums that I should go and "learn to play" or not expect the game "to hold my hand" when I was asking genuine questions.

So I did a little joke. Feel free to add me to your ignore list.

You seemed upset that I scolded him, but yeah, never mind that guy.

And I don't ignore if I can help it, where's the fun in that. I think I'll just push your buttons more with increasingly upsetting pictures.

Nope, it has nothing to do with Scaletho, I don't even know him apart from a post or two.

But it has everything to do with the fact that EDO changed a lot of things and mechanics but tells us absolutely nothing about them and keeps players in the dark.
And when someone who doesn't like 3rd party tools gameplay (or doesn't have the time for a proper fulltime research) asks a question is then told off by many WKs who seem to be the only guys who know how to play the game correctly.

That what's pushing my buttons. A kitten in a camo hat does not :)

Well, you're right about Elite, but I don't give up that easily.

Look, when I know the answer to a question I usually try to help everyone here.
Today I made a little joke (although I will admit that I was actually only half-joking).

The number of questions about EDO and its mechanics (from both new and experienced players) just proves that the game is difficult but only because we have no information, explanations, hints or proper tutorials (even though many of these things are available in Horizons).
Yes, ED was never an easy game but EDO takes it even further by omitting things that we already got used to. And honestly, I am tired of searching forums and the internet for basic information when my time for playing is limited.

I would expect that a new DLC would be an improvement in many aspects but unfortunately FDev took a few steps sideways and many steps backwards.
I am not giving up on this game (yet) but I will take any opportunity to voice my concern about missing key information.
And I will do it in a non-sarcastic and non-offensive way, that I can promise you :)

I mean Odyssey could be good but the lack of overall detail is just what does it.

I've said it many times before, but the fact they don't take inspiration from the countless third party tools and sites has been my biggest disappointment over the years. It just feels like taking the easy way out.

Isn't the "dry dock" where you buy fleet carriers?
In EDO, it looks like selecting it does nothing:

... however there is another option that works:

I have checked with EDH and there was no dry dock markers option.

... I hope it is a placeholder for the new content that has not been enabled on EDO yet rather than UI design mistake ;-)
If you click on "View More", it will reduce your FPS in Odyssey.
Ha, so with update 7.0 these buttons should be deleted and we will see the triple performance boost ;-)

I do not mind looking for other tools to learn new functions (of course it would be better to have all information in the game though), but with these new buttons, there seems not much to play with - unless it is a slight nudge from FDEV to use Codex more ;-)

So, some FDev programmer forgot to include the code for functionality on the buttons he put in the game.

Smart.
