Hey!

I created a video of things which have stood out to me in the latest developer diary:

What did you like most about developer diary #3? What things stood out to you worthy of comment? Was there anything that stood out to you that needed to be changed?

Nice video! I never thought about the night. Yes, it need to be darker. But Planet Coaster is in early (?) alpha now.

Good video pointing out things. (yes I turned on the auto subtitling and it worked well with your speech, it is funny how different it works on different people's talk)

I haven't realized about the night time but you are right. Maybe it could be adjustable. I like both actually. haha. Evening and night.

And as for my own thought.. I know I have talked about earlier.. but please please make the stuff recolorable! Scenery, stalls, rides... that "white half-roof" thing of ticket person is a good example.

It would be fantastic if you can have something that is essentially a scaled down version of Create A Style of Sims 3.

It is quite deep in its goodness, to see how it works if you haven't used it:

Ah I can't find a video that is deep enough to show off its all features.. You can for example drag color dot, texture square or whatever to another furniture to color that too. Drag the whole "tab" (the vertical line with the 4 squares of textures) and it will recolor something else with exact same textures, all of them. You can also make texture custom, if you know how to make, using the 3 RGB channels and the Alpha layers in png to make up for four different colors. It is interesting method.

Here's tutorial on how to use the software to generate a pattern. But I have made using photoshop before that tool appeared using the 4 channels. Think of as alpha layer but four in total. It looks crazy in photoshop but correct ingame.

Something like this but remade to fit the game better plus with feature of adding "decals".... PERFECT!

I really liked the paths and the rides! To be honest, I think everything looks amazing except for one thing. If you look at the video clip of the coaster on the lift hill near the beginning of the video, the track looks very choppy at the top. It also looks this way on sharp turns. I really hope this is fixed before the alpha!

The thing is, that sort of detail is hard to optimize for. I mean, if Sims 4 couldn't handle it how could this game?

That's why I said scaled down. It doesn't have to be as complicated as in Sims 3. I would be happy if we can recolor the stuff like rct 1-2-3 but with full spectrum and saved color themes, and maybe throwing decals in too.

Plus it is rumored that EA has bad programmers. ;) ;) ;)

Something I noticed: There's one part in the video when we can see a crowd of people following behind a pirate entertainer. If you look at the background in that shot, it looks a little cardboard-like. And it looks like it sits right behind the flat ride in the corner.

Something like that can be dressed up a little better.

Dude, this is awesome! All very good observations.

Just one bit at 3:10 though, I think the water is too transparent.. because there isn't any water in that hole! Actually in Q&A a while back they said water was still to come, and that it would play a 'major part' and be a big deal :)

Such a well put together video though!

Was thinking that too, had to pause and recheck [big grin]
