What to do if your canopy starts cracking?

I'm out in the neutron mines grinding out a living and after the latest close call involving YouTube and not enough attention, I've noticed that the canopy of my ship now has a small crack in it. I honestly have no idea what to do about it Do I fly back to save myself the risk of a slow death to the void, or do I continue on my current path, braving the dangers of emergency drops and potential death for greater (relatively speaking) monetary gains?

Basically, how serious is the crack?

Step 1 of 4 if in an Asp. I think larger ships can take more punishment. I suffered my first crack about 3k systems ago.

As they say, Keep Calm and Carry On. Just exercise caution and you'll be fine. I've crashed into 3 suns and Sag A* since my first crack and haven't suffered another yet.

Damage to the FSD is worse, though that can be fixed if you have an AFMU.

But it depends on your goals and how much you are willing to deal with the (probably slight) risk of a total loss of all your exploration data vs. whatever the goal for your current trip is.

When this happened to me on a long trip and I ended up with quite a few cracks, I briefly dawdled and then headed back home. Not a panicky run for home, but at a nice, steady, straight line pace. (Okay, the last few thousand ly were taken at a run.:) )A few cracks are by no means a sign of impending catastrophic failure... but, for me, I choose to the path of caution. Obviously all of us who are explorers take some risk heading out, its just a question of where you want to draw the line.

So, I'd say stay out unless it makes you nervous.

A single crack is really nothing to be concerned about, just be cautious... If it starts to get worse then I would suggest heading in for repairs but as long as you are careful you can complete you trip without a problem.
