What to do while waiting for Fleet Carrier Jump?

If within the Bubble (or Colonia): book the jump, then take a ship to the destination and do whatever you were going to do.

A few days ago, I had a Carrier that needed refuelling, so I took my T9 to a station that sold tritium, and booked the jump to the panet the station orbited. After loading the T9, I launched and went to the Carrier-arrival POI to watch it arrive.

A pirate Anaconda jumped in. I quickly checked the Carrier menu and saw that it would arrive in 1 minute. I then spent that minute trying to evade the Anaconda and stay near the arrival point while spraying chaff and dropping heatsinks. With no shields and about 68% hull, the Carrier arrived just in front of me (I nearly rammed it), and the pirate said "I know when I'm outmatched" and fled.

So there's gameplay to be had.

Use your ships right panel to start the countdown while you're already doing something, then rush like heck to make it in time for lockdown

Jump into a long-range DBX and hang around the arrival point as you'll arrive well before it does?
Yup.

A long range DBX is rarely more than five or six jumps from anywhere in the Bubble. You can be ‘taking care of business’ by the time your Carrier has arrived. Stack those assassination missions, line up a load of cargo missions or just dump some exploration data and bang out any available donation jobbies to give you a bump in influence/rep whilst you wait.

15 minutes goes quickly.

I take a small ship and do some weaving and stunt flying around the carrier.

Once I missed the pad lockdown, had to wait for the jump to complete, then had to wait 15 mins to jump the carrier back, then had to wait ANOTHER 15+ mins to program the first jump again.

I do this, but just like real life I usually end up being late. If I have to sit through the whole timer it feels like forever, but if I try to do anything and make it to the carrier it feels super rushed. I always underestimate how long it takes to do something simple like leave a planet and traverse a system to the carrier.
