Horizons What to do???

With 2.2 due to drop (at a guess next week, unless any major bugs are discovered) i find myself staring at the screen wondering what to do. I will go out into the black and explore the formidine rift at some point but that will be in the future. any suggestions anyone?

I was going to go do some mining for minerals for FSD range boost and SRV fuel for the hell of it (I haven't done any mining up to now). After that, I want to go explore a bit.

Yeah .. mining's a really cool activity imo. And real miners .. do it outside the bubble?

It can involve (among other things);

- Exploration; FIND that metallic ring system. Within inside 3 jumpsof a good commodity port is best.
- Entrepreneurship; Systems in Boom and Expansion give mining missions. Once you've collected, get the best price!
- Self Defence; Be prepared to defend yourself or outside the bubble you need KWS if you want bounty
- Geologies; Know your 3P's!
- Ship Control; gentle FA off thrustering around asteroids and help your limpets to be more efficient (you can)
- Get out before dark; You'll notice the day/night cycle so park near the terminator (but mining in the dark, is asking for trouble!)
- Zen Meditation; Most careers in ED involve relentlesss activity but check your mining tachograph! Take a KitKat and take in the vibe of the ring system, the planet eclipse over there. Just be ... and then roll up your sleeves again, mining can be a dirty business.

Wait for 2.2.

I play Elite in short bursts of 18 hour sessions for 2 months after the patches.

Yeah tried mining, hated it.

Uh Oh. Ninja!

I've been working out how efficient the fuel systems are on ships? That's as in, how much energy is theoretically available from fusion chemistry .. and how much do you actually get from one tonne of scooped hydrogen?

You can do things like star temperature composition surveys, develop stats on NPC activity, 'observe the galaxy' in general terms but on a finer level? How accurate is the simulation?

I have the same problem. Didn't fire up the game for more than a week now. There's nothing to do if you did all the missions multiple times. They need to implement the story in the game, visible and according, handcrafted missions that drive it. Otherwise........ boooooooooooooooring.

Whatcha gonna do?

Depends on what you are looking for. Do you want to earn lots of credits? Explore? Shoot-'em-up? Piracy? Mine? Trade? My experience of the beta so far is that it looks somewhat better, with interesting (mysterious?) things to find so I am working my credit balance up to outfitting a ship for a long-range exploration trip. A three-hour tour, so to speak.

1.)
Fast orbital ground troop deployment. Viper IV landing craft. Lands almost everywhere. Land, deploy, attack base and extract. Mix up with missile bombardment from Viper. Take some missions for this activity to support your credit balance. Hack your way through bases, dodge railgun bombardment in SRV and live to tell the tale.

2.)
Ask Agony Aunt to tell story about Baba Yaga.

Here's my short 2.2 To Do list-

I have the Beta but I never played it. I want to learn as I go this time.

1. Did three Sothis runs for about 180 million. I hate these runs... Cant see how people focus on these. But I digress...
2. Picked up an Anaconda. B-Rated most modules. Figure out how to fly it.
3. Picked up A Keelback. A-Rated these.
4. Stockpile the basic Engi mod mats.
4.5. Stockpile a little more.
<Update is released>
5. Upgrade the ships a little.
5.5. Fit the ships with Fighter Bays and Fighters. Play around and figure out how to use them.
6. Visit a Nav Beacon with a fighter in the Annie. Play on the surface with my new Surface Explo Vessel, Karl the Keelback.
7. Fit some passenger modules in the Annie or Python. Make some more money.
8. Buy an Orca or Beluga.
9. Begin the start-up company of Uncle Ren's Booze Tours. I drink and fly passengers around. Will we make it? Who knows.
10. Fight lawsuits due to pilot error and malpractice.
10.5. Sell Uncle Ren's Booze Tours and claim bankruptcy.

That should keep me busy for a couple of months.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same situation. Could do this or that again but eh... screw it. Play something else.
