Running ED Horizons on one 27" monitor 1920x1080 and the Forum on another I'm using 9300Mb RAM. Add a Frontier livestream and I'm at 9600Mb. Actually ED proper is only using 6037Mb plus all my other non-ED programs in the background. Chrome likes to keep web pages open if you aren't even using them. Don't get me started on Apple ITunes etc. Thus new computers with 16Gb RAM are probably doing just fine. My question would be does ED support 3840x1600 without looking weird?
UPDATE: Morbad replied yes.
Two monitors are also a way to go for doing other ED related activities while the ship is taking it's time getting to a station. Fly while watching a livestream...maybe racing Edward in real time. Build a ship at Coriolis on monitor 2 while getting your ship specs on monitor 1. Lookup where to purchase that next ship at a 15% discount. Find that hard to find mat. Have everything you do in the game automatically updated with your Inara account. With so many websites that require data capture from the game and Frontier actually supports them it is worth checking out.
I have ED on a PS4 Pro using a Samsung 40" 1080p TV which is perfect in my small office so with a really fancy curved screen I'd probably go in that direction. The prices are really dropping!
Still maybe you probably could get the really cool monitor and have your old one on the side for internet access. Just some ideas to play with. While the game would work it would be interesting to see how the Windows desktop looks after setting up the Nvidia software for 3840x1600 and 1920x1080 with two monitors. Here's some pics to give you some more ideas. The Logitech G13 gamepad is for creating great videos using the ED camera system. Then Corsair SP2500 2.1 232 watt gaming speaker system is pretty awesome. Decisions decisions...Let me know how else I can spend your money!
