Newcomer / Intro What to do?

Hi all,

Ok first proper play this evening and its great flying around, have the X52 working to a good level but need to map my keys better and get the head tracking working.

I started out in the Trevithick Dock, and took a courier mission to deliver some scrap to the Kini system at Kadenyuk Orbital, I went straight there after a few jumps. The station would not allow me to dock, flew to another station in the area same issue, flew back to Kadenyuk Orbital, still the same issue unable to dock as permission not granted. I tried a few stations in the area same issue, did a bit of dog fighting around a Nav beacon then in Kini and thought maybe if I head back to my original station Trevithick Dock.

I cannot even get permission to land at Trevithick Dock? What am I doing wrong I ask permission but I am always denied, now have no fuel to jump anywhere so parked outside to see if the forum has any idea's?

Presuming that you've done the basic magic for docking (being 7.5 km or less in distance away from the station before sending a request to dock), all that is worth doing is ticketing this to FD. It does seem unusual.

Suggest save, exit, enter again in a different mode (if in open switch to solo or group e.g. group of just you). This might pur you in a different "instance" with landing space available.

After I came here to post the issue, then I went back into the game I managed to dock at Trevithink on 1st attempt, I restarted the game inbetween. I then went back to Kaydenyuk Orbital still couldn't dock, tried the restart and still no joy. I spent another 10 minutes trying to dock there and nothing, so cancelled the mission and now buzzing around a nav beacon.

A few bugs still clearly but very good first impression.

If its a small station ie a Platform, there are only so many landing slots ie 3/4.

If its a bigger station then the simple fix is to drop into Private Play, dock and then switch into open again if you are waiting a segnifient time.

Remember you must request docking from within 7.5km of the station.

That has happened a few times to me in the crowded systems (it might be players sitting on the landing pad rather than dropping into the hanger) ..But, I found dropping into solo play lets you land straight away ..So you can land, hand in mission etc etc..then log back into open play while in the hanger

Hi Redrigo, The Land suggested that as well. I was treying to avoid that as I wanted to remain in open play 100%, as I then maintain the chance of winning the £10,000.... I am perhaps being a little too optimistic about winning but belief and hope can be a good thing.

As a newcomer you have no chance, sorry But of course keep the spirit up!

Maybe not me :-(, but the rules mean newcomers have a good chance! Experience plays a big part which all the Alpha, Beta and Gamma testers have....but how many game hours a player can put in every day will be the biggest factor here.
